Many thanks. Does anyone else see a bit of our Jenny Goodspeed in Sarah's face? I still prefer Jenny's face and voice, but anyway great to see Sarah using this occasion to bring Joni's music to the masses. At least I assume it is the masses. Would anyone care to explain what the Juno awards are all about? As far as I know they DO NOT give an award for Best Joni Cover. Pity. I didnt see much of the Junos as there was a good documentary I was enthralled with. Anyway, I did see the nod to Joni, the black and white image of her, as well, I saw Sarah Harmer's Joni cover...very nice. Sarah is well loved and admired in the musical singer song writer community here. Lieve, the Juno awards ceremony have come a long way from its early days..I am glad to see that Canadian musicians are being honoured and the word is spreading all around the world. We are very proud of our vast and wonderful musical talent. no, Bob, no Joni covers award..too bad. I could see an entire show dedicated to that...wouldn't that be awesome. And speaking of awesome, I am glad you are able to maintain communications with all of us. The Alliance Theater has announced that it will produce "Ghost Brothers of Darkland County," what it calls "a riveting Southern gothic musical." King's story is based on the real 1957 deaths of two brothers and a young girl. Mellencamp is in charge of the "roots and blues-tinged score." The Alliance's artistic director Susan V. Booth will direct and legendary producer T. Bone Burnett will provide musical direction. It is scheduled to run from April 4 to May 13, 2012. Seems like I had read something about it previously. May just have to head down to Atlanta to catch it and take my sister who is a Stephen King FREAK (as in every first edition, a couple of signed copies, all the Bachman and collaborations with Clive Barker, etc). King is great. He wrote a letter to the Governor of Maine stating that he felt he wasn't paying his fair share of taxes and was willing to pay a considerably higher amount to help his state. Unfortunately, very few King novels have transformed to good films. The Stand miniseries is one that stands out as an exception. The Stand > miniseries is one that stands out as an exception. Delurking to chime in on this... I would add The Shawshank Redemption to another of King's books (novella's) that have been adapted well to film. Also Stand By Me and Misery - helped largely by Kathy Bates' performance. It's difficult to adapt any novel to film, simply due to the amount of story which doesn't have any "visual" component (eg. thought processes, etc.) but it can be done. Stephen King has said many times how disappointed he was with The Shining, both with the way the plot was developed in the film and the choice of Jack Nicholson as the main character. He had just done One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, as was already seen in people's minds as a "mad man". The whole concept of The Shining was that the hotel was possessed, not the man, but that was lost in using Nicholson. I'm a huge SK fan as well - The Stand (the unabridged version) rates as one of my all-time favourite books. It will be interesting to see how he manages this genre.
