Sarah Harmer sang "Carey" in a very straightforward way - - just her and her guitar. I'm sure it will show up on Youtube, but it's not there yet (not that I can find.) Because this year's show was in Toronto, and it was the 40th anniversary show, they did a flashback to Toronto in the old days, which included some of the old clubs on Yonge Street where Ronnie Hawkins used to play, as well as the Yorkville clubs where Gordon Lightfoot and Joni performed. There was one small still shot of Joni, presumably at the Riverboat. Another Joni still shot showed up during a blurb on the filming of "Tears are not enough," the "Northern Lights'" song for Ethiopia. It has been mentioned here before, but here's the Northern Lights video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJN3u1wAWIk. The video quality is not great but it's OK. Some of these people were so young when this was produced (1985.) Joni had the perm, Geddy Lee looks like a little child of indeterminate sex, and then there's pouty-mouthed Corey Hart ("I wear my sunglasses at night.") Geddy Lee and Dan Hill ("Sometimes when we touch" - I don't know whether he has ever lived that song down) were both on last night's Juno awards and I would recognize Geddy because, even if he has aged a lot, he still looks essentially the same. Dan Hill would not be recognizable at all. Neil Young in '85 is recognizable as the Neil Young who was presented with a Humanitarian Award last night. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2011 08:34:53 -0400 From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: last night, njc Great to see you and your son and dad. Oh well. I loved the fact that Andy Partridge of XTC was also on that "Tears Are Not Enough" recording. As close as I'll get to a collaboration of two of my favorite writers. There's even a note at the desk in the room stating that. And the streaming video you CAN get from the States is deathly slow...keeps bufferring every 30 seconds and eventually you just give up. Streaming audio sites are not as bad which is nice. And he had tried to get a Heineken before his set but the bartender was 60 feet down the bar and he gave up. I didn't realize he was fixing to go on. So when he finished, I had a cold Heine waiting for him when he stepped off the stage. Can't wait to see yall at Jazz Fest and you in LA (be sure to bring Charlie with you). Jim PS. I just booked the French Quarters for Labor Day weekend for the Joni Paz Fest II 1 Year Anniversary Reunion Party. We need to reserve a big table at Rio Mar. And you need to visit with Chuck Robinson to get him to book the PHJB for the Friday night Bourbon Street Concert (BSE) on 9/2/11). - --- On Mon, 3/28/11, Michael Paz wrote: From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: last night, njc To: "Jim" Cc: "joni@smoe.org" , "Lc Stanley" Date: Monday, March 28, 2011, 7:35 AM Charlie was in rare form that nite, Sent from my iPad On Mar 27, 2011, at 1:11 PM, Jim wrote: > Hi Laura, looking forward to seeing a bunch of Pazfester in LA in August.
