What a wonderful opening up to many discussions of the Joni kind. Hopefully, more folks will chime in and give us their thoughts. fwiw, the first time I heard Joni, it was on the radio way back when..Court and Spark. A dear friend gave me Blue and Ladies, and the next one I think was Clouds. I skipped a bunch of Joni albums and when I picked up Night Ride Home, I felt that Joni was back. And this is a perfect demonstration of not having a clue: when I saw the image of Joni on Hejira, I thought oh no...she's gone all Jazz (time to confess my complete ignorance of jazz at that time). Geeze Louise, so I missed out on that as well as Hissing . When I joined the list in 2000, I was soon educated into giving them both a try and it was a multitude of wow moments. I love them both so very much. This list is for learning, and I'm ever grateful for that, and for the wonderful friendships within. Comments like you don't have to be gay to get Joni give me the willies...big time. Nuff said, have a wonderful day all, and I look forward to more comments. That is no surprise. Last week Jacob had me in a puddle with his House Is Not a Home. That guy is just amazing. A gift is the only way to describe it. I think having them work with producers instead of performers has really revved up the entertainment this year. And Steve Tyler is just amazing. The guys are definitely a cut above the ladies this year I also think the guys are a cut above the girls this year. It's a good bunch of singers. I still don't have a favorite, but as far who I think gets the boot tonight would be either Karen or Haley. I liked "Blue" and she did hit the notes well, but it dragged on too long, plus I think she doesn't show much expression in any of her songs. Wednesday March 16th the full Mutts of the Planet band will be doing a show at The Performance Loft in Redlands, CA. Playing with the whole band has become a bit of a rarity as there are scant venues with good enough sound and a listening crowd. This promises to have both. Monday, March 21st Robin and I will be as a duo at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena CA. This is a nice stage and a good listening space, not far from Pasadena. We'd love to see the Dulsons, Lesli and Kakki and any other L.A area folks at either or both shows. Or if you have friends who are into Joni and in southern California but not on the list please tell them about it. More details can be found on Robin's calendar page http://www.robinadler.com/calendar.html. Thanks all. She can't dance et she can't sing that well either unless completely blowing all the notes is singing. She didn't deserved to be saved and on that save night she was worse than last night. (Blue): She was wearing a knockout dress and looked great. > Started slow but really showed some versatility with the pitch-perfect > yodels and growls she threw in there. She really flubbed this one and just because Randy, I've been on this show for 10 years, compared her to Diana Ross doesn't make it so. Of all the tunes she could have picked she chose this one. It's a bittersweet tune but one wouldn't know it by watching her. To gush praise at them non-stop is not going to make them > any better. - --Judges? They need to get rid of this silly panel and just announce the singers. Randy is worthless but at least he does has some criticism, at times. The other two are dress up dolls with candy after every performance. Should have just kept Ellen. She would have been perfect with those two. I like Tyler's music, not so much him. Lopez, well? I had never seen or heard her sing or perform til last week's (No. 1 I tune number) and now I am glad. She stunk. I cannot believe I am watching this show again. Crystal Bowersox is to blame. And she didn't even win. None of these folks have talent, not what I call talent (Gypsy). Probably my last wasted two hours this year. mack ual > sender and may not necessarily reflect the views of the company. > ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Mar 2011 10:33:38 EST From: FMYFL@aol.com Subject: Re: NJC NJC American Idol - And Then there were 12 NJC NJC In a message dated 3/10/2011 9:33:51 AM Eastern Standard Time, rflynn@frontiernet.net writes: > Is Paul MacDonald the Rod Stewart dude? Don't count him out. The judges love his quirkiness. Bob, your American Idol round ups are better than ANY AI reporting out there. Just love reading them. I agree with you about 98% of the time. That is no surprise. Last week Jacob had me in a puddle with his House Is Not a Home. That guy is just amazing. A gift is the only way to describe it. I think having them work with producers instead of performers has really revved up the entertainment this year. And Steve Tyler is just amazing. I have never been a fan of his, but so far this year he has me saying Simon Who? Jerry On Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 9:29 AM, Richard Flynn wrote: > Is Paul MacDonald the Rod Stewart dude? He is probably out to his family and friends. He is a "spa concierge." He may be instructed to play it all down a bit for the competition. And like Mack, I think he would make a hell of a drag queen. But that doesn't take away his vocal talents one bit. Jerry On Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 11:22 AM, wrote: > > > But do you think he'll come out of the closet anytime soon?
