My concern with Facebook is mostly the safety issue: I've read that FB stores old data and actually sells it. I keep telling my daughters that prospective employers are likely to purchase those embarassing photos. The fact that the data was erased a long time ago does not mean it won't come back to haunt them forever. Of course i sound like a paranoid old fart to them, but i wouldn't be surprised if this leak was true. Think of wikileaks on a personal level. Does anybody know more on this matter? Speaking of my daughters, Arielle who is the eldest (19) will be moving to San Francisco from France next May. Since she has dual french & american citizenship, she feels the time has come to live that american experience. She plans on getting some jobs for 2 years and eventually go to college after she becomes a California resident, in the college tuition sense. It would be nice if she could meet people in the Bay area, just in case... Arielle has a nice personality, kinda shy, and her best skill is understanding people. If a JMDLer wants to be on her list of contacts, please pm me or....write to her on FB; "Arielle OIszer" Cheers Laurent ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2011 15:56:00 -0800 From: Lori Fye Subject: Possible Jonifest? I'm confused about one point only: if someone is a "lurker" then they are, by definition, not really participating in conversations. So how are they feeling "left out"? Not meaning to cause argument.
