With Joni's retreat from making music, the raison d'jtre for this list seems to be shifting. I've met some lovely people here and I've learned a lot on a lot of subjects, including music. My own music listening hours over the past year have leaned mostly to old jazz tunes and tango music, which is the music I have learned to dance to. My holiday gift to you is this little jazz ballad, kinda Christmassy, from a barely recognizable Melody Gardot, which I found on a recent Charlie Haden disc. I hope you like it. Available until December 30. My best to all, Michael in Quebec If I'm Lucky, sung by Melody Gardot with the Charlie Haden Quartet West http://www.yousendit.com/download/RlRxb2VBNDROQnl4dnc9PQ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2010 19:07:51 -0600 From: Michael Paz Subject: Re: Lady T - Teena (Tina) Marie Passes Away (NJC) I saw this in yesterdays paper. I worked with her about 3-4 times over the years. She was an amazing talent but it was always a challange to deal with her mgmt. Her backline requirements were in excess of $4,000 to rent. They use to play a little game of if you can't supply exactly what we are asking for we can have it brought in for X amount of money. Me thinks her production manager or somebody was making a pile of dough on the side and running a big old scam. She played the Zulu Ball during Mardi Gras a couple times and the crowd really eat her up. She had a wa\y about her. I know New Orleans music lovers will miss her. Only 54 years old. As of now all that's being said is she died in her sleep. I am so sad. I have quite a few of her albums used to listen to them alot around the Disco Era. Anyone else listen to her music? Laura ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2010 #386 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, send to joni@smoe.org.
