Found the version of 'The Half-Remarkable Question' they used in the doc on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xEaEALzyJo Joni ISB connections - she supported them in 1967 at The Speakeasy in London and they also played at the Big Sur Festival where (Jacky [Gertus] found in Mojo a few years ago) "Robin tripped over the power cable and the entire show ground to a halt, but they'd ended up afterwards in a hot spring in the rocks with Joni Mitchell and David Crosby, all of them "pink as shrimp" and singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot." Got this Electra documentary as an .avi file (555MB) if any dropboxers are interested. best to all PaulC (off to dig out my beads and kaftan!) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2010 17:47:19 +0100 From: Anita G Subject: Re: question Hi Ava Has anyone recommended Karen O Brien's 'Joni MItchell, Shadows and Light' or Michelle Mercer's 'Will You Take Me As I Am - Joni MItchell's Blue Period. For academic analysis there's also Lloyd Whitesell's 'The Music of Joni MItchell'. Sorry to read about your nodes - but teaching is a good thing!. And yes, folk on this list are pretty sharp and funny, too! Definitely interested! I wish someone had recorded Joni, Cros et al singing "Swing low, sweet chariot." At the same time, if I could ask again about whatever Joni things are in drop box. I think a person has to be invited the first time in order to access any particular drop box. I was told by someone that some other Joni stuff was there, but I probably only have access to your drop box, Paul. If anyone has the power to "invite" me, would you mind? I suspect that, somewhat like a vampire, once you've been invited, you then have free access. - ----- Original Message ---- > From: Paul Castle [...] > > Got this Electra documentary as an .avi file (555MB) > if any dropboxers are interested. > > best to all > PaulC (off to dig out my beads and kaftan!) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2010 17:19:25 -0400 From: Gerald Notaro Subject: Hissing There is a short story in the October 11 issue of The New Yorker titled Hissing of Summer Lawns. Buffalo Springfield sounded great!!! They definitely sounded more polished than I would've expected from a band who hadn't shared a stage since 1968, but then again, look who is in the band... Jackson Browne and David Lindley were super as well, and Pearl Jam too! Fun to watch the bootleg videos!
