I have the same problem with Pandora here in the UK, Gina. I used to be able to get it but now can't - here are a couple of other suggestions. If you just want some music playing away while you work on something I'd suggest trying Whole Wheat Radio (from Alaska) @ http://wholewheatradio.org who stream a mix of singer/songwriters, blues, classical, bluegrass and folk - no talking between the songs and no ads. Their website has a 'Now Playing' page with artist bios and Facebook links etc. If you want to have more control over what you're listening to you might like Blip FM - http://blip.fm/ You can either search for songs you want to play yourself on your 'own' station or 'find DJs' who play the artists you like by entering their names in Search and 'favorite' the DJs who play them - and then just listen to your 'Favorite DJs' stream as they 'blip' songs for you - you can click on to the next song at any time, if you want - and when you really like a song you can give the DJ 'props' (Blip FM currency) - the more you 'blip' yourself the more people will give you 'props' - the more you get, the more you have to pass on to others. It's a cool way of finding people out there with similar tastes. Joni content: I played 'Sunny Sunday' last Sunday (it was!) on my station @ http://blip.fm/paulcastle very best to all PaulC NP Omar Sosa - A Moment (on Blip FM) - gorgeous!!! listen @ http://blip.fm/~w4uw9 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Sep 2010 08:01:44 -0400 From: Gerald Notaro Subject: Re: Stars Salute Joni Mitchell Looks like this is a limited European release of the TNT ALL Star Tribute to Joni Mitchell. Given the locations of distribution, this looks like a bootleg of the concert, albeit a professional one. There's probably a good market for it; I made a DVD out of the Emmy-nominating VHS that was distributed and have enjoyed it quite a bit over the years. I haven't got around to listening to the Whole Wheat Radio ( http://wholewheatradio.org/ ) yet because I am hooked with the Blip FM. I think the idea is GREAT. it's like a musical twitter. It seems like a great way of sharing music and new artists- and it's very easy too. So, if anybody already has an account in Blip FM or is curious enough to open one, My DJ name is Star Maker Machinery (yay!) and Paul has already said his. So we can follow and listen to each other... I guess this could be very interesting and entertaining. Though, it might require lots of attention and therefore be unsuitable for work. and another drawback may be that my old PC finds it difficult to run InDesign, 6 Firefox tags and this online music player. cheers! For what it's worth, I wasn't taking potshots at any particular race -- I worked in ESL all my life and always enjoyed being thrust into other cultures as part of the job -- and I also know wha it's like to be the only non-native speaer of a language in a large group of Russian, Japanese, Arab, etc. speakers. My point was not the race of the speakers, but the questionable wisdom of putting *all* customer service in the hands of people whose English is difficult to understand for many Americans, and (in some cases) whose ablity to understand the varietiy of American dialects of English -- some of which *I* have to struggle to understand -- is very limited. I'm no fool -- I know it saves the companies who outsource customer sercvice to other countries scads of money. But it inevitably translates to a diminution of quality of that service. I'm glad you've had good service wth CricKet. And you're probably wise not to have direct e-payments of bills. I've never had a problem with it until now - -- and with a company I'd canceled business with. But after I posted my rant, I went to three of the consumer complaints websites, and CricKet comes out very bad, among the worst for companies its size. The complaints made are similar to the ones I made: misleading information as to coverage and suspect billing practices. It has been suggested that if they're not under federal investigation soon, they will be. So aparently it's not just me. Thanks for pointing out the appearance of racism -- I should have thought of that, and worded things differently. Also I NEVER set up automatic payments, because of stories like these. Instead i set a email notification to remind me to pay whatever bill is due. saves money and headaches in the long run.
