I discovered Townes via our very own jmdler Claudia. Thanks mostly to Catherine though, for bringing this one back round again. I cannot help but think that this would be a good funeral song as well. a very grateful happy Mags http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDD04Pxu6aI ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Aug 2010 17:42:10 -0700 From: "gene" Subject: Re: Lyle Lovett sings Flyin Shoes by Townes VanZandt NJC Thanks Mags, Townes is one of my favorites. "White Freightliner Blues", "Poncho and Lefty", "Waitin Around to Die", and "Dead Flowers." are some of my most played songs by Townes. Never got a chance to see him live, never met the guy, read his words and listen to his music, I really like the Dude. peace~~gene - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mags" To: Sent: Thursday, August 12, 2010 4:57 PM Subject: Lyle Lovett sings Flyin Shoes by Townes VanZandt NJC > merciful heavens, this is such a gorgeous video, a beautiful cover by Lyle > as > he pays tribute to Townes. > > I discovered Townes via our very own jmdler Claudia. Very well done, featuring clips of him performing live, or just talking, plus interviews with his friends and family, including his gorgeous kids. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow it from the library, so do check your pubic library and, if they have an online system where you can request something, go for it. Mags, I agree with you about it being a great funeral song. That's another one to add to my list. Mine could end up being a very long funeral because there are so many great songs to choose from. ________________________________ From: gene To: Mags ; joni@smoe.org Sent: Thu, August 12, 2010 8:42:10 PM Subject: Re: Lyle Lovett sings Flyin Shoes by Townes VanZandt NJC Thanks Mags, Townes is one of my favorites.
