Loved it. So timely, and resonant for me, this great film. The Joni connection quite blew me away, and the honest emotionality, it took me hours to recover. ~Richard Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2010 17:30:27 -0400 From: Gerald Notaro Subject: The Kids Are All Right Saw it today. My favorite movie of the year. And the Joni connection is not at all incidental, but a very important part of the movie, one you will all appreciate. Go see it. Dear Joniamigos: "It seems like many dim years ago since" I shared a "Joni in the workplace" story (it was an ooby shooby academic year with never a minute to spare) but today I have a good one. A real live JMDLer is coming to visit today. Any minute now! Alive, alive, I want to get up and jive! We've never met in person, and we will only have a little time together because of scheduling conflicts. S/he has to get back home by dark(ness, darkness, no color not contrast) and I have a date to go see The Kids Are Alright, finally. I hope we can sneak out of the workplace early. If you want us, we'll be in the campus bar! ; ) I won't say who it is to protect his/her privacy, but I'm looking forward to a good time. "Whenever one or more of you are gathered in name, there is love..." Here's a quick "Joni in the workplace" story. This year I was in charge of a big retirement party. One emeritus absent-minded (but very dear!) professor sent me two checks by mistake, with a sticky note on each, in two separate envelopes. He forgot to put a stamp of any country on one but it still got here. Here's the Joni part: both notes mentioned her! 1. Patti, I put one cheque in the mail sans stamp! Keep the faith with Joni! 2. Keep the faith, esp in Joni! Darn right! Peace, love, and music to all, Patti P.
