Guitar: "Tiger Bones" (it's obviously not hard)...I find this a complementary piece to "One Week Last Summer" or vice-versa.Piano: "Paprika Plains." I sent a poorly recorded copy to Dave Blackburn who said I rocked it, but not sure if he was just being kind... and Dave's transcription of "Blue." One can always find new ways to mine the emotional depths in that piece, it can be devastating. I actually had to think about it for quite a while but here is my answer: 1. My favorite Joni Mitchell song to play is usually the one I am playing at the moment, especially one that I've never played before. I always learn something new about the guitar every time I attempt one of her songs. Right now I am playing only unreleased songs from her 1966-1967 period. 2. I also agree with many others who answered that People's Parties is the easiest to play, but not the easiest to sing, by a long shot!! :-) 3. There are three songs that I almost always get choked up on for different reasons 1) Little Green ... the loss in this song always brings me to tears ... 2) Refuge of the Roads ... the moments of profound spirituality and self discovery in this song always chokes me up, especially the lyrics ... "he saw my complications and mirrored me back simplified" ... "These are the clouds of Michaelangelo, muscular with gods and sungold, shine on your witness ..." and especially "In a highway service station over the month of June, was a photograph of the earth, coming back from the moon, and you couldn't see a city on that marbled bowling ball or a forest or a highway or me here least of all ..." a total smashing of ego faced with the wonder of the world, I always become overwhelmed by these things. 3) Jericho ... the ideal of love ... "I'll try to keep myself open up to you, and approve your self-expression, I need that too, I need your confidence baby, and the gift of your extra time, in turn I'll give you mine, sweet darling, it's a rich exchange, it seems to me, it's a warm arrangement." Always cry when I think of how fleeting this has been in my own relationships ... but hope lives on!! 4. Oh and did I also mention how important this list is to me too? We are friends of spirit Barry!!! Thanks for drawing my attention to it. But Wowee, what a price. I'd love to know more about this small run publication, Does anyone on list know anything about it? The good things is that you can't possibly question the authenticity when, as the description says,'It does smell like cigarettes when you open it'. Hello Lovelies, Colorado is cooling down a bit and I'm recovering from a nasty round of grossness that I caught from the river. Truly. I thought I had food poisoning, but it turns out that the river where I (used to) swim is infested with ecoli and arsenic. So, yeah, that'll take the wind outchur summertime sails! Am catching up on the digest now and saw that someone mentioned the piano music for My Old Man. I don't believe that's up on the site, is it? I would love to get a copy of that, if anyone has it available to scan, borrow, etc., it would be most appreciated. Thanks! Going to see The Kids are All Right this afternoon.
