And can you imagine Casey attempting Hallelujiah? Really a stretch... What would be rather interesting is to have each contestant sing the same song, then you'd be comparing apples to apples. With a very nice write-up of Clouds. I really enjoyed it and now have a crick in my neck from nodding my head so much. And excerpt: " I think I return particularly to Clouds because it has a song for just about every mood or situation you could find yourself in on it. To have this album with you is to always have something that will comfort, console, quell apathy, inspire optimism and even anger. There's a market for him and he'll do fine. He's a very good looking guy and has talent to boot. Both Lee and Crystal did very well, especially Crystal. She did an outstanding job with "Maybe I'm Amazed." I couldn't believe the notes she kept hitting. I think she's the winner. Lee did very well also but I'm distracted by his lack of expression in general. He stares ahead when being talked to by Ryan, he stares ahead blankly when he's on camera. Lee! It's national television. Look lively! I did think the arrangement for Hallelujah was overwrought (a horn section??) Assuming that's true, it explains why he asked Lee to sing it in the first place and also why it was praised so enthusiastically. Have not seen any of the performances yet, but y'all are kind of echoing my predictions yesterday. I'll be watching it tonight after the elimination round where we all say our tearful goodbyes to Casey. Like Lindsay says, he should do OK and might even break through in a Carrie Underwood kind of way. I'm certainly rooting for him. That's a question for Lindsay, Leah, and me (that I know of) who watch it. Will Schuester sang the hell out of Aerosmith's "Dream On" last night. A lot of time they put a real glee club twist to any song. They could probably sing quite a few Joni songs, but I'd like the cast to sing something like "Rays Dad's Cadillac" or "Edith and the Kingpin". I recently started watching it too, but have absolutely no idea who should sing what, because they often choose songs that shouldn't work, but do. Joni's catalogue is huge, but would they stick with the stuff everyone knows? If they can devote an entire show to Madonna, as if she's some kind of goddess, then Joni deserves a season to herself. Don't the voices all sound kind of digitally enhanced a lot of the time though (or whatever you call that?) I find the singers often end up sounding like the same person. I'm kind of mystified about why this show is so popular. It seems to appeal to all ages and they just whip those CDs out faster all the time, riding the wave. Who'd have thought a show about a high school glee club would ever catch on? Of course, there's nothing even remotely realistic about it, so maybe that's it right there. As with many of the better shows, it's the cast of interesting characters that makes it. Sue Sylvester is absolutely my favourite character. ________________________________ From: "FMYFL@aol.com" To: ckarma@hotmail.com; joni@smoe.org Sent: Wed, May 19, 2010 3:23:47 PM Subject: Re: Joni episode of "Glee?"
