Hello! I know that some of you joni people have appreciated my bleak recomandations before so this one goes out to all of you Steve Dobrogosz was Radka Toneffs pianist and collaborator, We miss Radka but we still have Mr. Dobrogosz. He has made an album that is so smooth and restful that I dan just relax and dive into it. Its titled Golden slumbers. It is available on both amazon and itunes. I did not find any streaming of it. It is lovely and well worth your extra dollars.. Check out his websiter here http://www.dobrogosz.com/ and i think his version of across the universe, can compete with Fiona Apple's fantastic version from the movie "Pleasantville" love oddmund http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gLWTtlMwo4 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 May 2010 14:13:29 +0000 From: Michael O Subject: Re: New video in Library - Rainy Night House Wow, what a great, jazzy version of this song. Joni's jazz. it has aged very well. It's fun to watch the way she moves - she has maintained this inner dance well into the year 2000, when I saw her perform in Boston. It seems that Garnet could not come to terms with Stan's death for many years, so writing this reminiscence must have been very healing for him. *************************************************** Steve Dulson Costa Mesa CA tinkersown@ca.rr.com "Folk Alliance Region - West" www.far-west.org ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 May 2010 10:51:47 -0700 (PDT) From: Mags Subject: Re: garnet rogers night drive NJC A lovely thought there, Steve. I certainly hope so too. As well, being the brother of Stan has had to have it's issues, in terms of oh, you're Stan's brother, rather than seeing Garnet for the shining star that he is. His concerts are tender and emotional, and I appreciate the emotions he shares. He is wonderful in concert..gush gush...and has driven many a mile, as he indicates in the song. It could also be a metaphoric song as Stan would have driven the vehicle of when/where they would perform. Just some speculation on another spectacular and gorgeous day on the Prairie. I remember him playing in all the school talent shows, what he really blew me away with was his version of the "Midnight Cowboy" theme song....on accordion. It's very reassuring to see that he's made a good living with his talent. He has also recorded BSN...then again, who hasn't?
