But what I also have to comment on is your PS: *GO SUNS!!* Or should I say, *Go LOS SUNS! *(For those who don't know, this is *strictly NJC*---talkin' 'bout the Phoenix Suns, an NBA team.) I became a basketball fan recently only because of Steve Nash--but now I'm definitely a fan of the organization, since they took a stand against the racist Arizona anti-immigrant law. Not only did the team wear uniforms with "Los Suns" on them for their home playoff game on Cinco de Mayo, but the owner/management made an official statement against the new law, as did Nash and other players. They finally beat their arch nemesis the San Antonio Spurs and will now face the LA Lakers in the Western Conference playoff, where they are definitely the underdogs. So even tho I'm from Wisconsin, the Suns are my team! Nice to know there's another fan on the list. :-D Terra, the unlikeliest b-ball fan On Mon, May 10, 2010 at 10:22 PM, Les Irvin wrote: > Joniphiles - > > > JoniMitchell.com is back up, and I am quite confident that it has gone down > for the last time. > > > *PS - Go Suns!* > - -- Curiosity is my religion. The previous (unnamed) hosting company suspended the site a half a dozen times for "overloading the server". Each time, I obliged by rewriting the databases and tweaking the code to try to comply with their requests. Ultimately, over the past few days, I made our hejira from the host in question and moved to another host with a better understanding of the code base and a much more helpful attitude. My apologies for all the downtime - we no longer plan to weave a course of grace and havoc and vow to remember that you get what you pay for. Les, your humble servant. Anyway, I don't have the link right now, but there was an absolutely glowing review in the NY Times about a week ago. Apparently, Judy is in very good voice right now (at age 71!), though I know she has her sound guy add some reverb to round out the sound. In any case, I've seen Judy many times in the past 15 years, and her shows can be really moving and delightful. Don't miss her if you have the chance to go - she's 71, and we're no spring chickens either. Bob's mention of passwords reminds me to ask something I've been meaning to: Is it possible for us to change our passwords? I keep forgetting what mine is. I've probably received five email reminders (one for each time I've asked the system) about what it is, but then I can't find the emails the next time I want to log in. Result? I'm not reading any of the articles, because I can't log in and I'm too freakin' lazy to do a really good search of all the stuff in my mailbox to find the one that contains my password. I'm also embarassed to keep sending that "I forgot my password" message (even though I'm sure it's a bot that replies.) If it's not possible, or is a major hassle (same thing really!), then just forget I asked. I really appreciate your efforts, Les. You are definitely not responsible for my crappy memory. ________________________________ From: "Bob.Muller@Fluor.com" To: Les Irvin Cc: joni@smoe.org Sent: Tue, May 11, 2010 7:40:04 AM Subject: Re: Lesson in Survival NJC Glad that we're through that time of being prey to dark uncertainty, Les - thanks for managing it. Who is it that does the cover of that song where, in the last verse/chorus, she changes the words, "In the cookie I read..." to "Like Joni said in her song..." (or similar words.) I heard that cover ages ago on CHUM-FM here in Toronto, back when it was cool. This was probably within a year or two after the FTR album came out, so I'm guessing early to mid-70s. It's quite possible I even have it somewhere in the various covers I've downloaded since you started providing these on YouSendIt, but if so, it may be among those I haven't listened to yet.
