I am actually heartened that some people are actually calling it out for what it is instead of finding 1,000 ponderous reasons to excuse it. Getting to the heart of the matter is not always a bad thing. But I kind off separated the wheat from the chaff when I'd meet people who dissed her. I was real lucky to have all my high school friends, male and female, absolutely adore her. We would regularly get together and try to learn her music and sing it at every beach bonfire and other parties. In the college dorm I would resolutely play her music nearly every day and learn her songs from the first songbook. Several of my dorm mates would come by and ask me to help them play guitar and learn her songs, too! Many more thought she was IT than ever laughed her aside. Every musician friend I know has always had the starry eyed respect for her that we all do. Gina, you are not too late! Feel free to bring up any topic you want-as you can see, sometimes we're just treading water here, anxious to explore another aspect of joniology.
