I'll do like Bob and make it a multi-buy, but just one condition: I want to come and collect those CDs in person at the next Jonifest. How about it, Mr Paz? The line-up is indeed amazing, and I thought I should mention our UK talent Paolo Nutini. Italian parentage but born and bred Scot. Great voice. And if we must admit to major lusts because of the tone set by Bob, then OK, if pressed, I'll admit I can't find anything wrong with Paolo's appeal, except that he's younger than my son who first told me I should give him a listen... We can dream, eh Bob? Lieve - --------- From: Bob Muller Subject: Re: PHJB (NJC) That's a great video...gets me all tingly waiting to hear the whole thing, may just buy about 10 copies and get my Christmas shopping done. What a lineup; Jason Isbell, Ani, Jim James, Steve Earle, Dr. John, Tom Waits, and Amy LaVere who I have major lust for. Also a couple of great shots of Mr. Payton with his bass - sending good vibes to him today. - - ----- Original Message ---- From: Michael Paz To: JMDL Jmdler Hi Everybody! Who Dat! Dear Ones, and Marianne in particular: A friend of mine is collecting handmade paper butterflies to send to the Holocaust Museum Houston which is preparing an exhibit of 1.5 million decorated butterflies to represent the number of children who perished in the Holocaust. Ms. Marianne Treegreen Rizzo (art teacher who shocks her students by playing Joni singing "f@#k your strangers" in the classroom!), wouldn't this be a great class project for you to teach the children well? Two things: 1. Jody alerted me to the fact that I wrote "Kay and Ashley delivered the book" instead of "Kay and Ashara". DUH! Of course I know Ashara, the first JMDLer I ever met in person. "Angel Ashara", as Smurf always called her. I must have been thinking Kay Ashley or about my daughter-in-law Ashley or whatever idiomatic logic that goes on in my head. Sorry 'bout that! (We laugh at how our perfection will always be denied.) 2. Here's a message from another beloved Wally -- shared with his permission (Do post my message, darling. I havent been on the list for a few years now and it would be nice to pay a visit there too.) And now, without further ado, let me re-introduce to you The Birthday Faerie! He is one of those rare, large personalities that leaves such a strong and memorable impression that one really can't possibly comprehend that he is no longer here - - he is, but just in another place. Certainly, he was a great and gifted writer and fantastic wit. When I finally met him in person at one of the Jonifests (maybe 1999?) I was even more impressed with him. He has that wonderful Irish rogue (not rose ;-) quality and you immediately knew he had a big golden heart. I had mentioned spening a few extra days in the area to sightsee and he immediately gave me his card and invited me to stay at his place if I decided to go down to Rhode Island. I didn't make it but I still hold on to that funny, clever business card of his (completed with imprinted coffee mug stains on it.) I heard a bit about those of you who had helped him when he became so ill and then recently heard even more beautiful stories of truly devoted love, care and friendship that some of you gave to him when he needed it most. They are amazing stories and those who helped him so extraorindarily are examples to all of us.
