Listen @ http://bit.ly/548tp2 In addition to stories about the amazing success of 'Once' - from Sundance to the Oscars - and his prior work with Alan Parker on 'The Commitments', he also tells wonderful tales of his early days busking on Grafton Street in Dublin - where he one day met Dylan, who subsequently invited him over to open from him in London the next day - and of being invited to one of (his hero) Van Morrison's private birthday parties which, after a particularly unpleasant start that had him in tears, ended up with the two of them jamming alone together until the early hours of the morning. best to all PaulC (who is really looking forward to seeing The Swell Season here in London tomorrow night) NP - Glen and Marketa's Oscar acceptance speeches - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx8yLvb0gZM (love the way Jon Stewart invites Marketa back on stage after her speech was cut off by the orchestra - "Fair play to those who dare to dream and don't give up") ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Jan 2010 13:31:47 -0500 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: Glen Hansard on 'Once' and 'The Swell Season' (njc) <(love the way Jon Stewart invites Marketa back on stage after her speech was cut off by the orchestra -> One of the greatest Oscar moments ever - very moving. My son and I saw them here several months ago. They were amazing, especially Glen, who has such a vocal range and can go from a whisper to a roar in ten seconds or less. I know there were several times I had to pick my jaw up off the floor because I was just amazed at how good he is. ________________________________ PaulC (who is really looking forward to seeing The Swell Season here in London tomorrow night) __________________________________________________________________ Make your browsing faster, safer, and easier with the new Internet Explorer. 8. Mary suffered multiple fractures and while waiting for help to arrive Blaine had the sense of mind to assist her and call parents. He's a hero in our book. Mary was flown to Arkansas Children's hospital from the scene. She is in the pediatric intensive care unit." Hi Ya'll, Her parents wrote the above. My oldest son's girlfriend knows Mary, and my sister-in-law taught her in grade school for two years. She's a junior at the same high school I went to in the 70's. My son's girlfriend told me a bug caused her to be distracted and lose control of the car. She had two surgeries this week; the last one was today. She's has brain trauma and was in a coma for about a month. She is awake now but having a hard time recovering. Please, keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. I'll let you know how she's doing. Thanks!
