If I would have had mothers' names I would have been Laura Elaine and changed it at marriage to Laura Barbaradaughter. His real "last name" would probably have been for his father - - the earthly one, that is, "son of Joseph" or, as Em says, maybe named after his home town or birth town of either Bethlehem or Nazareth. I think he was sometimes called "Jesus of Nazareth" or "the Nazarene" (Naz for short!) Something I never gave a lot of thought to, is that Jesus and Joshua are basically the same name. ________________________________ From: Em To: joni@smoe.org; Laura Stanley Sent: Thu, January 7, 2010 8:25:59 AM Subject: RE: maiden names, njc delaNaz? :) - --- On Thu, 1/7/10, Laura Stanley wrote: Jesus didn't have a last name except for Christ did he? __________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! I remember being young and hearing that song and thinking it was so beautiful and so sad, drawn to its melancholy without really even knowing melancholy personally at that point (i was 8 years old). It's funny to respond to something that way--and finding you spend a lifetime becoming very acquainted with that introspective, bittersweet sadness that stuck to your ribs in your formative years. And I would also imagine there are people who go through life not responding to that particular emotional spectrum in art (be it music or drama or painting or whatever) at all. Are we on the jmdl all psychologically pre-disposed in some way toward truth and beauty? just wondering on this snowy winter night... Thanks for sharing that link!
