Hi all, I just read Leonard Cohen's "The favourite game" - about a young Jewish poet and musician growing up in Montreal, and in particular all the women he meets. Obviously I wondered how much of this was autobiographical, and if any of the girls were inspired by, well you know who... Has anyone else wondered about this...? I guess this is a coincidence, but the protagonist of the book is called Laurence Krantzman - now that sounds a bit like Joni's art teacher huh. Bene recovering from two fabulous weeks in California where I had the exquisite privilege of hanging out with the Kakki, Lesli and Dave & Robin... What a great time, and what great people. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Nov 2009 09:14:07 -0500 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Another little tidbit revealed OK, so we know that Sam Shepard is Coyote, now thanks to a new book we know who the "woman down the hall" is - Chris O'Dell: http://www.hollywoodtoday.net/?p=11545 also: http://www.missodell.com/ Bob NP: Bruce Springsteen, "Atlantic City" - ------------------------------------------------------------ The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain proprietary, business-confidential and/or privileged material. I had never heard of her. I remember singing that song (Miss O'Dell) with a buddy who was a big George Harrison fan, but had no idea what it was about. May have to put that one on the list to read. I was somewhat familiar with Jeffrey so naturally i went to see him last Saturday near Paris. The concert was OK, but what really blew me away as well as the entire audience was his wife Kris Delmhorst who opened the show. I had never heard Kris Delmhorst although she has quite a few albums under her belt. As is often the case, it is hard to tell from the recorded music what the artist can project in real life. Kris has a fantastic presence, she sings beautifully, has great harmonies, and an interesting guitar style. She joked that her husband called her fingerpicking < swimming horses > because that what her right hand fingers really look like. I realize that most of these comments apply to many folksingers out there and i cannot find the words to express the fact that Kris really moved me and that the emotion that transpired truly mesmerized the quiet french audience. Check out < Blue Adeline > on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bi6ewsfP2s you can tell she listened to Joni.
