Hey Bob Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. While it's true that hot water was limited depending on time of day, i personally think that a shower in the middle of nature with an unobstructed view down the valley is priceless. Matter of taste i suppose. But i still love you regardless. Switching gear to the beggars stories, here is a cute one. Every sunday after mass there were 2 beggars at the church exit. One with a crucifix and one with a huge star of David. Naturally the one with the crucifix was getting all the donations. One days some good fellow approached the 2nd beggar and told him that perhaps he would get some donations if he took off his star of David and put on a crucifix just like the other one. The beggar then hollers to the 1st beggar: "Hey Schlomo, this guy wants to teach us our business" Laurent ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Oct 2009 14:16:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Mags Subject: Re: Taylor Mitchell (njc) Thanks so much for mentioning Taylor Mitchell. She was here in the summer, at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, as one of the Young Performers series. I was not able to attend but given the wonderful things folks are saying about her, she was a gifted, lovely young woman with her sites set to sail on our musical seas. Ive noticed that the news has spread world wide, have read articles about Taylor from Australia and beyond. much love to you and your new little family, Victor. So sweet of you to bring Taylor's memory to the fold. love, Mags - --- On Thu, 10/29/09, waytoblue@comcast.net wrote: From: waytoblue@comcast.net Subject: Taylor Mitchell (njc) To: joni@smoe.org Received: Thursday, October 29, 2009, 4:11 PM Just read that the 19-yr old Canadian folksinger was attacked and killed by coyotes while hiking in Nova Scotia. She sounds awesome. If you visit her website, it lists a few Canadian music stores that carry her debut cd. Coltrane turns 1 week today and I've realized since he's arrived I have a completely different perspective on things. Birth and death and birth and death and birth and death...I thought I had it all figured out but I'm realizing I don't at all. We have certainly been experiencing such an incredible feeling of joy and wonder and then I find out about something like this and it totally tears me up. I realize I don't know clouds at all...but I have an even greater respect for Joni's music and I imagine songs will take on entirely different meanings. It speaks even more to how much depth her songs do have. Victor, overwhelmed by sadness and joy PS. Thanks Mags and everyone who's called or sent messages...we're feeling the love! Funny thing -- seeing this article about dopamine as a motivator was just what I needed to finally eeek out of lurkdom! Really -- I've been high on this for about two days now just thinking about the writing process that went on here. The only reference to Joni in the entire article is a mention of having baker's yeast in the pantry in a fit of "Ladies of the Canyon" wistfulness. No further explanation. No mention of Joni specifically, no mention of Annie baking those cakes and breads and thus needing the yeast. Joni is apparently such a part of our social fabric that no further explanation was deemed necessary by the reporter or editor. I am wondering though, if anyone but we listers, and those who love us, really got it.
