They had umpteen beers and In Belgium apparently that is redundant or some other.... Anyways if you add TRIPLE to any of the below mentioned brew or any other brew. No normal human can ingest them unless you are Clark Kent or Bob Muller (who was a Colt 45 endorser up until 1977 or thereabouts) Legend has it locally that us mere mortals can't hang with the triple versions which are sort of self explanatory. I however nerver touch the stuff altho the have a bitchin Gordons Gin in the region.. Oh I digress YET again. Sorry. Bon weeeeeeeeeeeee! I have enjoyed Duvel ever since my first trip with John van Tiel (after French-fest), but I just got turned to Chimay while sitting with Paz & co at SoCal Fest. I had ordered a Duvel and the proprietor of the restaurant/bar came out and offered me a Chimay on the house because he was so excited to have someone order a Belgian. I have since purchased many more at the local beverage store here in town. We found a charming little inn with a reasonable rate and decided to spend the night there. (And oh, that hot shower was the best I'd ever had but that's another story). Anyway, we hadn't eaten so we scurried across the street to a little roadside trailer/cafe that was still open but about to close and ordered frites and a combination of other local foods, and lo and behold, what was playing on the radio in the cafe but "Magdalene Laundries". I couldn't believe it - hearing Joni was strange enough, but to hear such an obscure deep track ON THE RADIO was simply amazing. We all took it as a sign that we had made the right decision. Oh, and the food was delicious.
