I was so happy to see that Joni had come back onto the scene with new material. Since then, I have kept this old photocopy (somewhat truncated, unfortunately) in my files. See link below http://www.flickr.com/photos/franglo/3892822941/ I note that this article is not in the JMDL files. There you go, some microfilm work for someone on a winter's day. I love the photo of Joni, too. It's by Robert Taylor. I tried to contact him for a copy of it, but never was able to reach him. I also love the copy line - - Bleakness and Sweetness - a perfect summation, imho. The first song out of the gate was "Last Chance Lost" from her new album Turbulent Indigo. I know I have this performance in a box somewhere on cassette, but did we also have that on video? Is it on the website somewhere? Dissing Woodstock Nation > > What a Long, Strange, Thoroughly Obnoxious Trip It's Been: > > http://tinyurl.com/klb7ww In the immortal words of one of the heroes of MY generation, Sgt. Hulka: "Lighten up, Francis." Joan gave birth to her son while her husband was in federal prison for draft resistance. Or lets be honest, they nailed him because he was ORGANIZING the draft resistance. Yeah, what a selfish act that was. And for what its worth, Joan actually WENT to Vietnam, in fact she was in Hanoi during the Christmas B-52 bombings. What a coward. And did the Freedom Riders do their thing out of self-centered fear of being somehow drafted into being black in the south? And c'mon, Chez, world hunger? What did YOU really DO to stop world hunger besides watching Live Aid from your friend's sofa? At least Joan performed at it and raised money for it. He's pickin' on the wrong gal. And last time I checked, Wavy hadn't morphed into a Wall Street banker. He's still Wavy. The man will find a way to prank his own funeral. Just watch. I had to post it here because of the title, which clearly has nothing whatsoever to do with Woodstock or Joni, but still... I've seen him live twice. He's a trip. A little bit Freddy Mercury, a little bit Michael Jackson, and teeny tiny bit Rufus... but younger, and more ambiguously gay, sorta kinda like Freddy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKXxb3o_RdQ ~Richard ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2009 #267 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe -------
