She sings BSN with Joni and sings I Shall Be Released with Joni and Mary Travers. Aired once on network TV and never again. Released last Tuesday on DVD. $12 on Amazon. Is this footage part of the video tree? From the SF Chronicle review: Thus she could banter and sing with guest star Buddy Hackett in one segment and then, in the next, sing as one among equals with Mary Travers and Joni Mitchell. Mitchell's rendition of "Both Sides Now" is a highlight of the show, just lovely. Another surprising highlight: the commercials. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/08/30/PKDC19ATS3.DTL ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 2009 09:04:33 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Almost half way there! Subject: Re: By The Time We Got To Taking Woodstock. now NJC Wow, I screwed up.So we came home from the mind-blowing film, with minds blown, and made & ate a meal and watched The History Channel on TV, which has a great documentary produced by Michael Lang called "Woodstock 40: Now and Then". And that's where the Travelogue version of Woodstock appears at the beginning... it is NOT in the film Taking Woodstock. My bad. I'm sorry. I got confused. It was a .... blur of an afternoon/evening if you will. The music for the titles at the beginning and all the incidental music throughout is by Danny Elfman. We didn't attend Woodstock, so my emotional response to the movie was less about the festival and more about Elliot's journey of self-discovery. I completely missed Joni's Woodstock at the beginning!!! Completely, totally, absolutely missed it. I'm looking forward to the DVD release, Ang Lee is usually a safe bet for a good film. But, I did see it over the weekend and I think it deserves to be a huge hit. I'm biased perhaps as my family spent summers in White Lake, NY up UNTIL 1969 (so I missed the festival also). Our bungalow colony was about 300 yards from the intersection of NY Routes 17B and 55, and I remember the El Monaco (it wasn't quite that seedy although our bungalow colony might have been). I was about 10 in 1968, and we used to steal onto Yasgur's farm infrequently, accompanied by older teenagers who told us that we had to be careful that Farmer Max didn't see us because he had a shotgun! (I doubt that now, but it sure kept us in line and moving fast through the corn.) Lore was that you could see clear to Pennsylvania from the top of that hill. It was a beautiful place. So far as depicting the time and place, I'd say that Ang Lee nailed it. If the art director had included a White Rock beverages metal sign (depicting the sylph on a rock in a stream) on the side of one of the buildings instead of the vintage Pepsi logo (product placement?), I'd swear it was time travel. So much fun to see the action of the film pass by scenes as they are being shot for the original "Woodstock" documentary mis-en-scene, the nuns...Port-O-San, etc. CC _________________________________________________________________ Get back to school stuff for them and cashback for you. http://www.bing.com/cashback?form=MSHYCB&publ=WLHMTAG&crea=TEXT_MSHYCB_BackTo School_Cashback_BTSCashback_1x1 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 2009 11:25:41 -0500 From: happytheman Subject: Re: Almost half way there! Towards the end of the interview, Lynn asked Annie which singers are her favorites. Annie said there is a long list, then named Aretha Franklin. Then Lynn asked about Joni Mitchell (atta girl), and Annie said definitely, Joni Mitchell. Here's the link to the show. Only parts of the interview are on video, and I could not find the Joni mention. There is video of Annie singing 2 songs live for the show. http://www.aetv.com/private-sessions/ps-artist-info.jsp?index=2&type=character ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 2009 13:52:20 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: Almost half way there! 'Ease Into This Love' is such a beautiful, mellow tune. Just right for a Sunday afternoon when your lying somewhere beautiful with your beloved. The chorus when it comes in is quite unexpected when Jenny adds a chord which seems to come from nowhere - but works brilliantly. Of course, if you are blessed to have Jenny's album you also have the truly sumptuous backing vocals Jenny laid down on the track - BUT it works well without them. I LOVE this song. Of course, I listened to the other contenders (not wanting to vote through sheer blind loyalty) and, in my view, it's well worth checking out the speedy fingers of fellow contender Mike Morris. He can sure play. Anita _____ I am using the Free version of SPAMfighter . We are a community of 6 million users fighting spam. SPAMfighter has removed 1839 of my spam emails to date. That's usually the way it is anyway. Jenny's CD is truly "All killer, no filler" and contains that wonderful cover of "The Arrangement" to boot.
