Darn right! We walked on the Matela moon. And now, just at this moment of the world... I'm a broadcasting tower, wavin' for ya! Caught this GREAT documentary on VH1 last night. It blew my heart and mind, esp. the JONI parts! Willy talking about her.... heavenly bliss on my TV set. Voila: http://www.vh1.com/shows/vh1_rock_docs/episode.jhtml?episodeID=156466 And for Herr Muller: http://tinyurl.com/ra74e5 Also, Good Morning America was broadcasting live from Yasgur's Farm this morning. Interview clips from Country Joe (from the VH1 special, peut-etre?)...he was wonderful and his words, whatever he said, summed it all up so well. He seemed to capture the spirit. (Or maybe it's cloud illusions, that I recall) Then Richie Havens was there live and reprised "Freedom." I am totally in the zone this weekend with all these specials. I'm walking on orange sunshine (not the brown acid) and don't it feel good, getting back to the gaaaaarden! And Bobbi and Nick got a piece of paper from the city hall, keeping them tied and true for 40 years now! We are stardust. We are golden. To realize that Joni wrote the song the whole world sings about this is just....too much. She "is my soul and my heart's inspiration"! Who wrote it? I Want To Hold Your Hand! By the way, that VH1 special (MUST SEE!) I told you about? I often go down to my local auction place in Greenwich (London). It's fun to pick up the odd antique piece of jewellery, for instance, for less than the price they ask in the shop for some new plastic equivalent. Also, one of my brothers collects vinyl records from the 60s and 70s, so that gives me another excuse to go and browse there. So anyway, today they were selling a large collection of electric lead and bass guitars, all in perfect new condition. The "estimate" price in their catalogue was for somewhere between #100 and #200 per guitar. This would normally mean that the shop price is at least twice that much. But in this case, I wonder, and I would dearly like some advice. Some of them sold, for more or less the estimate price. Those that did not sell will go on auction again next week (when I won't be able to go), but in the mean time they can be bought outright for the estimate price. I am tempted to buy my 2 sons a guitar (each), as a surprise for Christmas. They are experienced players and already have a guitar, but are keen to get something better, different.(They both said they liked the look of these particular guitars, but could not afford them right now.) Here are the only details available: 1) Six string Vintage V8 Strat (Wilkinson) electric lead guitar in tobacoo sunburst, estimate price #130-#140, and 2) Six string Westfield Les Paul SE series electric lead guitar in cherry sunburst finish - brand new and pristine, estimate #150 - #160 You can see a photo if you go to this website: http://greenwichauctions.co.uk/, then click on "auction preview" and scroll down. The Westfield is the 3rd item down, the Vintage follows about 20 pictures below. I at first assumed that these prices were way below shop prices, but having done a bit of internet research myself, I am not so sure. I must add that I know precious little about guitars, which is why I hope that someone on the list may be able to advise. I must add that I need to know by Monday, otherwise I won't be able to get there this week.
