ABBA generally makes me a little sick and very annoyed, and it's the same ting with musicals. And Michael Jackson. But one should keep an open mind! Bene Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2009 13:53:26 +0100 From: Azeem Ali Khan Subject: Abba njc I know this thread died weeks ago, but as some Abba has just come up on my Spotify Old Favourites playlist, I thought I'd add my two penn'orth. I can't stand musicals [2 of the 3 films I've walked out of were Moulin Rouge and Chicago], so I'm unlikely to enjoy mama Mia. But through the wonders of Spotify I have had a chance to reacquaint myself with some of the less flogged items in Abba's back catalogue. Oh boy! If anyone is geuinely curious as to why they are held in high regard by many, please have a listen to The Name Of The Game or The Day Before You Came. Brilliant, brilliant songs, regardless of the idiom. Lay All Your Love On Me is storming too, a great, sunny, happy groove allied to a lovelorn, desperate lyric, a trick they excelled at. Wouldn't THAT be sweet? >>> There is a cool website called "Fat Fingers" at: www.fatfingers.com where you can search eBay and it will include misspelled items in the category you're searching. This worked really well for me last Christmas when my niece wanted a Trivial Pursuit Millennium edition in the wedge-shaped tin. It was quite a spendy item until I used fatfingers and bought one for the minimum of $6.99 because of the title being misspelled. Speaking of Joni on eBay there is an auction at the moment for a promo LP from Argentina which includes a cut from Joni called "Volver Del Frio" which translates, literally, to "To Return From the Cold" (Come In From the Cold, I'm sure). Michael Jackson is dead now and I wonder if that affected control of the catalog? Maybe he and Paul worked out something that the ownership would revert back to the Beatles after his death?
