Not so - I have mentioned him many times, most recently when Rian had a listing of (5) singer-songwriter albums and wanted us to put them in order, or something like that...anyway, Nilsson Schmilsson was NOT in the list so I made a switch and inserted it. I remember wearing the grooves of my sister's copy so badly that I had to replace it. I distinctly remember when 'The Point' came out...it was an ABC Movie Of The Week, I was doing a babysitting job at our neighbor's house and was mesmerized by it. Wore that album out too - hard to pick a favorite but I've always loved "Think About Your Troubles". Fortunately, there's a GREAT 2-CD set out there that does a fine job of spanning his career, from the earliest pop ditties like "My Old Desk" to the complex "Salmon Falls". Highly recommended. Oh, here's another Harry - Joni connection...both of them wrote songs for consideration to be included in "Midnight Cowboy"; Harry submitted "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City" (patterned after "Everybody's Talkin' which of course was what ended up being used in the film), and Joni wrote "Midnight Cowboy" which was later recorded by folksinger Donal Leace. It says that Jonis great-grandmother, Brita Olsdatter Farestveit, grew up and gave birth to Joni4s grandmother at a farm in a valley called Modalen (dalen meaning the valley). The farm, and the family that still runs it are called Farestveit. Some of the apple trees are so old that Brita must have eaten their fruits. Brita and her husband left the farm in 1882 shortly after Joni4s paternal grandmother had been baptized Ingeborg in the local church. After they arrived in the US, her name changed to Emma, and they took the name Anderson after the child4s father. The article features the jazz singer Linda Farestveit who explains that she has always been a great admirer of Joni; she talks about how she reveres Blue so much she would never go anywhere near it herself. She recalls a day when she was in a gloomy mood, but a phone-call saved her day when she was told that she was in fact Joni4s firmenning, which is a child of a second cousin once removed. Another firmenning, Arthur Farestveit, still lives on the farm. He was surprised when he heard about his emigrated aunt; he says his grandfather never talked about her. Then they talk to Arthur4s daughter, Ann Jorunn (Farestveit I assume), she is 24 years old and shyly admits to singing in a rock band. Below the article is a link to a genealogy discussion page where people have pieced together the family tree. You have to be a bit of a nerd to want to read it. At the end of that page it says that all the evidence has been sent to Les Irvin, however, so eventually I guess it will appear on jonimitchell.com... You can google Linda Farestveit; the shy Ann Jorunn Farestveit seems to be on facebook I hope I am not encouraging any stalkers by saying that. Hi Lesli, Here is a copy of the translation when I used what you suggested. Love and omhug,Laura Deep in Modalen, between the high mountains, is an old farmstead. It is called Farestveit use a number, and here has Farestveit Slekten grown, lived and developed for centuries. From farmor emigrated to Joni Mitchell, or Roberta Joan Anderson as she is called, to the United States with her parents when she was only a few weeks old. From here also originates in the genus to the teacher and jazz singer Linda Farestveit. Linda and Joni has more than music in common. They are firmenninger. Day rescued Linda has not been here since she visited the place with his father as a girl. We have run in almost two hours on the narrow road that snirkler them longer and longer into the valley. Linda talked about Joni, as she has admired since she was 16 She has told about the album "Blue", which she set so high that she is a singer who has never dared to approach it. Then she tells about the genealogist Arnfrid Mfland called her at work one day and told about his discovery. - I had had a slow day and was not in my best mood when Arnfrid called to tell that I was firmenningen to Joni Mitchell. Where and when was there anything else that meant something! Rays jazz singer. Then there was Lindas turn to call another firmenning who today live on the farm as Jonis oldemor, Brita Olsdatter Farestveit, left with his little family in 1882. Linda told Arthur Farestveit, which is her and Jonis common firmenning, the story of the world famous singer related to his farm. Farm between mountains Arthur Farestveit receives us at the farm. He comes out from the most recent of the two yellow houses with red frame, which is on each side of the narrow road. He does not know who Joni Mitchell is, but says that the house on the other side of the road is the childhood home of Jonis oldemor. There is also Arthur's childhood, and here he and his wife will soon move back while her daughter Ann Jorunn (23) will take over the new house, farm and kyrne. Ann Jorunn, who even sings in a rock band, shy smile when Linda explains that she is no femme to Joni Mitchell's daughter. Arthur has lived on the farm throughout his life. He tells about the name Farestveit, which comes from the danger of Tveiten, that means flat. He points to the mountains around us. Kalsesen. The White Mountains. Daurmelsbotn. Daurmel means noon, and when the sun is right in the pass here, it means dinner. He shows the plum trees and apple trees. The three biggest have always been there, he says. When the sisters went here was thus Jonis oldemor and ate apples, milk cows and had dinner ready at twelve o'clock when the sun was at its highest level over Daurmelsbotn. So one day she suddenly went off with her husband and their two young children. Jonis farmor was only the infant at the time and just missed being baptized Ingeborg Mo church, before the bar off. In the United States should change the name to Emma, and family took the name Anderson after Emmas father. In 1882 rowed the little family to Bergen, where they took the boat to America. In Modal Soga's family about the immigration, but nothing more. Arthur responds that he's never been told about the emigration to either British or her sister Inga, who also went out that year. - My grandfather never mentioned these two aunt's, which is very strange in that he talked so much about other imigris from the area, "he said. The music from Moelvi Emma Anderson wanted that 14-year-old boy a piano that she never had.It did, however, her granddaughter Joni Mitchell, who in several interviews about his grandmother proud with the unknown origin. In "Women of heart and mind" from 2000 and says that she is not in doubt about how she has her musical roots. Soon she may also know that the roots remain in Farestveit farm, where Moelvi gurgle down Modalen as it always has. COMMENTS Discuss: Out from Moelvi ends Mitchell music Norn (unregistered user) 22.
