Tres Magnifique!!!! So true Patti. I've said this before but the part of this song which really strikes me like this as well is when Joni writes, "We are stardust....we are golden..." I love Astronomy and when watching The Science Channel, I hear Physicists refer to us "Carbon-based lifeforms" in this same way. I can't help but see the absolute wonder and depth of those words. Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2009 23:07:09 +0000 I got this message from Amazon today, and it struck me, like lightning from above, encore une fois. Joni wrote these words, and here they are using them in their sales pitches and songs from the hit parade of Woodstock books. For those who don't know, a Cruise Night is where lots of guys with old/cool/customized cars and hot rods attend a big meet and line up all their cars for onlookers to check out & photograph. This one is held every Tuesday and they had about 100 cars and a small stage set up with a few performers. Well, just as I arrived on the scene, I could hear the sound of a female singing a Joni song (can't recall which one right now) & playing a guitar but I was about a half block away so couldn't see her. By the time I got up to the stage area, she was gone and someone else was singing & playing. I never got to see who did the Joni song. I'm planning to go back another night and see if she's there again. Kenny B ************** A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! I rode today with Smurph in my heart, and Wally, and MG, and the many (too many!) who have gone before us. It was an amazingly beautiful day, and the many people who lined the road as the miles clicked by, thanking us for riding, handing out water, and high-fiving our efforts, made it all worth while. Some kind soul put up signs along the way that read, "Oy, another hill" and, "Allez! allez!", and "Pain is temporary" and it helped on the hills, believe me. Why did I ride? For my mother and father and mother (I had two!), for Smurph and Wally and MG, for Lynne, for Barbara, for myself, for you. I dare to say that we have all lost someone to cancer, or someone we know and love is fighting it. We have hope and we cling to it like a lifeline. The money I have raised is dedicated to stem cell research, and it gives me hope. So, thanks for the love, Patti. I found myself a charity. Love, Maggie formerly known as the Culinary Queen :-) - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Aug 2009 18:40:35 +0000 From: Patti Parlette Subject: Le Tour de Maggie Cher(e)s Joniami(e)s: "Mama and Betsy say "Find yourself a charity Help the needy and the crippled or put some time into Ecology" Well there's a wide wide world of noble causes And lovely landscapes to discover But all I really want right now" Is to support Maggie pedaling for a cure for cancer. Yes. In the tradition and spirit of helping and encouraging our own, I am sharing the following: http://www.pmc.org/profile/MM0438 Maggie is, as you know, "a pretty good cook" at various Jonifests (even though Smurf once wrote that "Maggie hasn't done a f#$%ing thing all day!"). She has raised $2,385 so far towards her goal of $3,000. Wouldn't it be cool if the JMDL could put her over the top? I know we all come from such different sets of financial circumstance these days, so if you can't give money, just send her your good vibes -- your confidence, babies, and the gift of your extra time. She is doing a wonderful thing. And we all know that if Smurf were still on this marbled bowling ball, he'd be pedaling next to her, or at least handing out water bottles or *something*. I'm not tagging this NJC because I think there are a lot of Joni-onlies who would want to know about this. Ride, Maggie, ride! Love, Patti P. P.S. This is a bit of personal synchronicity for me. The the first time I posted to the list, Maggie was one of the first to welcome me, and it was about Joni and bicycling! Alors, some JC after all! Voila: "Hi Patti - welcome! I loved hearing of your discovery, and that your colleagues were saying it was just another Joni moment. My colleagues are the same (around Joni and bicycling, especially the Tour de France...when Lance Armstrong won they were congratulating me..too funny)."
