At Christmas time Natasha was a guest judge on Top Chef; the chefs had to cater a charity fundraiser for AIDs and Natasha was a huge supporter of the cause because her father died from complications arising from the AIDs virus. I have thoroughly enjoyed her performances over the years. One of my favorites being "The Handmaid's Tale." As for the Joni content; I would have loved to see her as Blanche Dubois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" which we all know Joni did a modern day take on in "Sunny Sunday." The year we won our league championship (we were the Road Runners and yes I still have the shirt), our secret weapon was our lone girl, Tammy Coelho, who started the year with a 75 average and finished with a 125. Her handicap was a big bonus for us. And we were almost done in by the all-girl team, especially the day they all wore hot pants - yowzah. Still, even though I'm sure the guys were glad to have a hottie like Joni on their team, I'm sure Joni liked being one of the boys as she did from then on. (odd, that...) I first saw her in a film with Alan Rickman in which he plays a hairdresser and she is a woman with ovarian cancer. Since then, I've always noticed her in movies she was in and thought, "I like her." I think the fact that I didn't know more about her personally is a tribute to her talent. Like Rickman, I always felt she was an actor's actor. It's sad to see such a loss over something like this. And having taken to wearing a helmet when I snowboard, I heartily recommend it. I vaguely remember watching an interview where Joni was asked something to the effect of whether as a young child, she had any dreams/ wants/foresight about/into where she would be today. After what happened to Natasha Richardson (and she left behind her husband, Liam Neeson, and two young children, aged 10 or 11 and 12)... Not trying to cause needless alarm, but this just isn't something I'd have thought about because the last time I went skiing (probably 40 years ago!) I doubt anyone had thought of helmets for anything. Despite all my doom-saying, have fun!
