As to DED, it could be only me... yet, I think the drum machines and the whole sound have still an appeal and are not dated at all since they successfully express, through an exquisite and fine marriage of music with words, the rage she felt at that time, (not that she has meanwhile stopped..., for our luck...) and THAT swooping of the voice, gorgeous as it can be! I cannot find DED rejecting at all... and to see it at discount prices (seen yesterday at 4 euros!) while "18 bucks go up in smoke" for the latest "formula music", well... it makes me... angry! The digitally processed sound of the VG8 doesn't wear well, like the drum machine on DED and the ear keeps rejecting it as unnatural whereas the old analog sounds were earthier and more caressing to the ear. I think it was more a marriage of convenience for Joni who could for once not be dealing with retuning on stage. _________________________________________________________________ Drag n dropGet easy photo sharing with Windows Live Photos. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowslive/products/photos.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Mar 2009 11:04:52 -0400 From: Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Subject: Re: JoniMitchell.com wants you Les, a fine job as always - I also thought it was great before, and before that in fact. Love the sound clips, a nice addition. I'd still love to see a proper discography listed here, including singles, EP's etc. This info has been sorely lacking for a long time and its absence stands out like a sore thumb regarding an artist of Joni's stature. Of course I spent a lot of time checking out the Covers section, or as it's called now "Songs recorded by others"...I notice that it's no longer searchable by Volume. That was of great help to me but I'm probably the only person on the planet who used it. My life will go on in its absence. I have spent a LOT of time however researching labels, catalog #'s and misc information about these recordings and none of that appears to be accessible. Is that temporary or do you plan to bring that data into the new site? And I have to say that I was a little sad to see Bob's project "Joni In Fiction" is gone... There is much about the contents of Willie's post that suggest that something is not quite right. What Willie is saying in his posts is semantically and grammatically correct for the most part, but makes no sense.
