Maybe I can't convince you to learn any new music from the last 30 years but I have faith that you can learn this: 1. When you're on the webpage or petition you want to send, place the cursor in the upper field where the incredibly long URL is shown. 2. Single-click in that field, that should highlight the entire URL; from there, right-click on your mouse (or use the Control-C keys) to copy the text. 3. Go to the www.tinyurl.com website 4. In the heart of the page you'll see a field that says "Enter a long URL to make tiny". You can't miss it, it's a Huskie slam-dunk. 5. Place the cursor in that open field and either: a. Right-click the mouse and select the "paste" option; b. Use the Control-V key combination 6. This should populate the field with the long, long URL you started with. (Note - not all of it will show in the field so don't despair.) 7. Click the "Make Tiny URL" button - it may prompt you to allow access to your clipboard; if so prompted, select "allow access". 8. The tinyurl site will then show you a page saying "Tiny URL was created!" and will then show the original URL and the new improved URL. 9. Highlight the new improved URL and use the same cut & paste steps as listed above to copy the tinyurl in your message. 10. JMDL members the world over will rejoice and they might actually check out the link and you will be even more popular at parties and the Huskies will make the Final Four. Refusal to learn these easy-to-follow steps will lump you in with the Party of "NO" and you will be perceived as someone who is resistant to change and not in favor of progress. Practice on your own in the privacy of your home and/or office. 11. Can Patti do it? Yes she can! (And even if she can't, we will take her as she is and love her just the same) Bob NP: Dionne Warwick, "Don't Make Me Over" (I swear that's what was playing) PS: This is for a PC - I'm not sure if the same steps apply on a MAC but I'm sure that some Mac user will tell you how this can be accomplished in only one step while a chorus of cherubim sings overhead. - ------------------------------------------------------------ The information transmitted is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain proprietary, business-confidential and/or privileged material. One of the original Buddy Holly Crickets, Tommy Alsup. It's not on my computer so I'll have to dig it out of a box somewhere scan it and send it to you. Bob Montgomery, who co-wrote songs with Buddy Holly and played with the Crickets for years, has a son named Kevin (Oh my... the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen) who is a musician in his own right - sort of country but I like his music a lot - GAC (Great American Country - for Catherine) played his video a lot when it came out. Tommy Alsup plays in Kevin's band sometimes and when I went to see him in Cleveland I asked to have my photo taken with Tommy, he agreed. I sat next to him and my friend took the picture, count down 1-2-3 snap - I turned my head and planted one on him for the photo... he was so surprised and flushed beet red with embarrassment but laughed, I have the photo for posterity. love, Cassy NP: Beyonce -vs- Tom Petty - If I Were A Free Fallin' Boy (courtesy of Jimmy) If Iraq's biggest export was broccoli, would we still be there ? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2009 12:47:59 -0800 (PST) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: Pink Dress concert released on Amazon today?? I liked them. How cool that a band member became an MP and Minister of the Environment and that he's getting back with the band to help out in this tragic situation. I found something in Wikipedia (not necessarily the most reliable source of information on the net) with a Canadian connection: "In 1993, the band also participated in the Another Roadside Attraction tour in Canada, and collaborated with The Tragically Hip, Crash Vegas, Hothouse Flowers and Daniel Lanois on the one-off single "Land" to protest forest clearing in British Columbia." And we know Joni has a house there, and we know she has protested against the forest clearing as well, most recently with the release of "Shine." And now for something completely different... a selfish request. My computer is old and I would like to replace it before it dies. I think I may go Mac. We use PCs at work, my current home computer is a PC but my son has a Macbook. It seems to me, when we were at the Apple store a week or so ago, that they have a mouse that seems to work very much like the PC one, but I could be making that up. In any case, it was pretty easy to use. If anyone cares to weigh in on the why Macs-are-better-than-PCs issue (or vice versa), feel free. You can email me privately if you prefer to keep this offlist. Some of the things I do like about Macs are: they don't take up as much space as PCs (I don't have a lot of room and my old computer and the old CRT monitor hog space); they've got a lot more neat stuff already in them, so you don't have to buy add-ons (I'm thinking about some of the photo and music applications). (Plus we already got the MS-Word/Excel etc for Macs and we can use it on more than one computer, so I wouldn't need to buy this again and therefore the compatability in creating and sending documents from one type to the other isn't an issue anymore.) - --- On Tue, 2/24/09, Patti Parlette wrote: http://tinyurl.com/bd2znp [...]Ha.
