Mermaid Cafe is my favorite, especially since it's two ladies doing the songs, easy to remember and has a nice ring to it. Grace & Havoc made me laugh when I read it; it's got the potential to stick in one's mind, that's for sure. Sounds like it should be a TV sitcom. How about Court & Spark? If I think of any other possibilities, I'll send 'em your way. Kenny B ************** New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & more. Try it out! She was moving beyond the folk rock scene, and we got a good dose of her quirky creativity with this album. There's really not a genre to describe it nor what comes after it. I see it as a move in the jazz direction but very different from typical jazz. THOSL is one of my most favorite Joni albums. It is not only interesting in its uniqueness but is also fun and uplifting. I realized at the time Joni was taking a big turn. I didn't know where and didn't much like the change but I did love the album at the time. When you look back at her entire career there have been a whole lot of twists and turns, but oh what a ride. Again. Chiming in again. I'm not pretty sure with "Grace and Havoc" because you're making a duo. That'll make you, in the end, be judged by the crowd "this one is the angel one and this one is the lucifer one". Liberation Doll? Hmmm... I think it's too sweet ("doll") and too peacenik. The Mermaid Cafe would be fine. But you're making a duo, not a tavern. Anima Rising would be fine but probably would cause a bloody dispute with Catherine. :o) My favorite is Roses Blue. Not only it contains a title of Joni's song, but also a title of her greatest album. Rian PS. But i'm still thinking about The Victims of Typewriters, The Bloodless Brides of Jesus, and The Mean Old Ladies. Hi Rian, thanks for writing about it. yes, I do find this frustrating. I did not want the government to approve the "bail out." I do not trust the plan or the administration. I think we should let the cards fall where they may. . I fear that we will pass on more hardship to the next generations.. . We should learn from mistakes as we make them .. Also, we should pay as we go for the wars also. . then we would perhaps think twice. . (as if killing innocent civilians in Iraq is not enough). We should pay our debts as we go for the most part the mentality of Americans is "spend, spend, spend. . live in the moment." how long do people believe they can live like this? it will all tumble someday? I feel that the W administration is somewhat GETTING AWAY with the DOWNFALL of their policies by selling this bailout plan to the american public. If Joni didn't go through her twists and tuns in her musical career, we would not have all that music she produced when going through such changes. And if she didn't change oh so much, wouldn't you be a little disappointed? She's be a good artist, I think, but not a great artist. If she decided to stick with music and keep recycling "Blue," (as some bands do...they reproduce a good album basically over and over...using the same formula and such), you'd love that album or the albums she made prior but it would get old fast. Then again, what if Joni would have stopped and retired from music after FTR? She has stated that was when she first began thinking such thoughts---just leaving the music business. FTR could serve as a swan album of sorts......think of what we would have missed man! - -Monika - --- On Wed, 10/8/08, Jerry Notaro wrote: I did love the album at the time.
