I forgot to say how much I appreciated the time you spent looking after several others (me included) and the funny and touching speech you made to Lucy and John. It brought so much together rather beautifully, I thought. I have sent for a cd of the Belgian music (not still having reached the downloading age) and am really looking forward to hearing it. I appreciate you have managed to re-connect me with my Belgian roots. Thanks! You also say about being described as being described as a Joni look a like and now passing that accolade to Robin. I am sure there is room for many Joni look a likes. What fun! The nearest person physically I have ever seen to Joni was a bloke on a Gay Pride march in a simply FABULOUS frock. He had Joni off to a tee. I don't know if he's on the list, though! Anita _____ I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. It has removed 655 spam emails to date. Yes, hypocrites. They're just lucky they weren't busted. The rule is, to say that someone has committed zinah (adultery), one must bring 2 witnesses who swear before God's name. I don't know what the next steps are. Of course there won't be people who wants to be witness for this matter in France (or in my case: Bali) plus... (the most important one) : The shar'ee police don't operate there/here. (shar'ee=islamic law) Of course those prince will think that they're free to do whatever they want. But, just because one can escape from law here, it doesn't mean he/she can escape from the law there. (read: afterlife) Hey, i remember Joni stated something like this. It's on The Wolf That Lives In Lindsey. A bit different of course... And, about the similarities. Of course there'll be similarities. After all, judaism, christianity, and islam praise the same God: Abraham's God. But of course there are lots of differences too. Judaism doesn't consider Jesus as saviour. So does islam. Islam considers Jesus as prophet, not God. But for Christians, God. Islam considers Muhammad as the last prophet, but Christianity and Judaism don't. Everybody claims they're the right one. Of course everybody does. That's why some chooses christianity, some chooses judaism, and some chooses islam. So which one is the right one? Let's leave it to God. We'll know it someday. Peace. I am a complete ignoramus when it comes to religion, having listened to sermons for 3 years in an Episcopalian church as a teenager, and an Anglican church as a child, and each one going in one ear and exiting the other without making any imprint whatsoever in my memory. I wish I knew more about religion as there are so many references to the characters in Joni's music, as well as that of Kate Bush, and Tori Amos (obviously). So whenever I hear these references to Jonah or whomever, I have *no clue* what she is talking about and am obviously Joni-handicapped in that area. Anyways regarding your comment about God: So which one is the right one? Let's leave it to God. We'll know it someday. I think of Joni's lines: "Still I sent up my prayer Wondering where it had to go With heaven full of astronauts And the lord on death row" And the line "Nothing is sacred, the ceremony sinks, Innocence is lost in anarchy" I found this comment by someone ... somewhere .. .I have no idea at this point ... but I saved it as I think it is so appropriate to the very different world we find ourselves living in than that which existed (was known of) during the genesis of these different religions: This "amazing thing" we are losing is our superstitions. We would like to cling to these, but our innocence is lost. It was lost for certain when we photographed "Earthrise" from the moon. We no longer gaze at the remnants of gods and heroes in the heavens. They were the projections of our minds. Now we are faced with galaxy after galaxy of endless nuclear fusions, electromagnetic clouds spanning hundreds of light years, and a fearful, indifferent cosmos. How terrible are the new projections of our minds, our take on reality. Animism to polytheism to monotheism to - what? An ever-receding god who watches over us? From where? The ends of the Universe? My three year old grand-daughter woke up screaming and crying for her mother last night, while her grandmother was baby-sitting. She was inconsolable for five minutes or so, until her older brother comforted her. Perhaps it was a nightmare that had frightened her. A terror in the night. We adults are not so different. We, too, have our terror: that it is all pointless. - -- - -Mark in Florida On Mon, Sep 1, 2008 at 10:07 AM, wrote in part: > And, about the similarities. Of course there'll be similarities. Saudi gives extra harsh punishment... Be thankful you live in western world! (or should i say : too bad you don't live there.?) Hi Rian I mean no offense to muslims but too bad there is no punishment for hypocrisy. It is a well known fact here in France that those same saudi princes break all their rules when traveling abroad: drinking and adultery. This was also confirmed to me by a 1st hand witness whose job was bodyguard for the wives going shopping while the husbands went with callgirls. I am not saying that these people have a monopoly on hypocrisy, far from it. Hypocrits are everywhere, just listen to DED. By the way i didn't know until a couple days ago that Muslims must ask for forgiveness for offences, as you did before Ramadhan. We do the exact same thing before Yom Kipour, the day of atonement. Incidentally I attended a Catholic mass recently and i was amazed at the similarity between the rituals with jewish services. Not a big surprise though. When you hear the music come spilling out into the streets, and colors go waltzing in time, you'll know you are there. Oh, you are the first to arrive? Okay, we'll make a new plan, Stan. Moldie Oldie comin' at ya, prescient of the Friends of Distinction you are about to meet: The sun beaming down between the leaves (Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it) And the bir-ir-ir-irds dartin' in and out of the trees (Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it) Everything here is so clear, you can see it And everything here is so real, you can feel it And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real Can you dig it Whooo-oooh, yeah I can dig it, he can dig it She can dig it, we can dig it They can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it Can you dig it, baby I can dig it, he can dig it She can dig it, we can dig it They can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it Can you dig it, baby Or was it more surreal, and magical, like this: I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest in a big field of tall grass I lay there in the sun and felt it caressing my face And I fell asleep and dreamed I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie And that I was the star of the movie This really blew my mind, the fact that me, an overfed, long-haired leaping gnome should be the star of a Hollywood movie But there I was, I was taken to a place, the hall of the mountain kings..... **** Okay, I'd better stop. (How do you stop?) The work week looms....phooey! Love, Patti P. P.S. Kalo mina, everyJonibody! (That's what they say on a Grecian Isle at the beginning of a new month. Remember last September? We were all getting ready to SHINE!) _________________________________________________________________ Get thousands of games on your PC, your mobile phone, and the web with Windows.. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/108588800/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2008 18:50:41 -0700 (PDT) From: Laura Stanley Subject: Sunshine Superman, njc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9T7s33RHtQ&feature=related ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Sep 2008 21:56:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Peep Richman Subject: Re: Just turned Tuesday This first day of this new month went by quickly. I watched YouTube videos of Joni...for a long time. Something magical as I'm watching and listening to this woman who has such a profound effect on my being...my entire life. Joni sort of grounds me and also gives me wings. I listen..and watch and I'm a time traveler...with stops along my life, each significant stop punctuated with Joni tones and Joni whispers and Joni warnings and most of all, Joni sharing...so much. Here we are, from all corners of the globe, yet we have within this unique family a forever bond. Reading the postings about the recent JoniFest...looking at magnificent photos (thanks to Chris...I've only seen the ones you shared so far)...faces to names and all of the faces seem to me to be so familiar. Wondering how Joni feels about this process of going through the years and all the emotional, intellectual and darn those physical changes. Does she miss the Joni of her 20's, 30's, 40', 50's? Doubt that she over-thinks all about the changes, realizing that this is a short visit...from the forceps to the grave. Joni always has been and always will be an anchor for me through the storms and through the pleasures. Morning dew of raw emotions touching upon each blade of grass, each leaf, each branch like the dew that quickly reaches out to keep us glistening and allows us to renew. Maybe this is coming out of me for Vince. Laura is gently reminding you of the strength you bring to us all and the strength we want to extend to you....with absolutely not knowing what the pain is about, Vince, I am wishing you a tranquility break. Joni allowed me to experience freedom..she sanctioned my expressions throughout the experiences throughout the decades. Joni unifies us but each of us experiences her gifts with a personal intensity...and I believe that we've come together on this list, each of us for a unique reason...an important reason. We are a group. We have fests...we share...we disagree and we have fun. Was it Monika who wrote about Joni's lyrics and their psychological aspects...the senses. This is a new approach that is incorporating in my awareness as I listen to Joni, as I read her lyrics. Feels great...new excitement. You know, I can't decide what song would push me out of a coma. I'm in a sort of psychological coma now and have been struggling with coma-like existence since 2000...that's really a long time. Many of Joni's songs help me iron out a wrinkle of the fabric of the chaos. But to emerge from a coma?....."Man From Mars"...freely associated, Freudian style. HHHMMM. Off into another something spectacular...check out YouTube- Pilobolus Dance Theater. I love Federico Fellini. He said: "When I do things without any explanation, but with spontaneity...I can be sure that I am right". Perfect. "You are one and the same in joy and sorrow, Hope and Despair, Life and death. You are already fulfilled. Let yourself dissolve. -Ashtavakre Gita 5:4 "One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody, everything, every night, before you go to bed".-Bernard M.
