I remember bushwacking through tall grass on Mt. Desert Is. trying to find the shore, and well, there was this snake....and I never jumped so high in my life. It was like Kobe Bryant taking off from the top of the key. Bob, I'm pretty sure you set a personal best that day for long jump! If so, I'd appreciate a mail. I have a student who's moving to the city for a year (or so) and I'd like to give her a contact address should she need one. She speaks some English but probably not enough to deal with an emergency. I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date. Pant, pant.....I'm rushing up the steps to sing soprano in the upstairs choir to Jimmy and Ed: "Ahhhhhhhhh! Happy Anniversary! And here's to thirty more years of hope and NO hopelessness! Congratulations on your solid love." With all the kin and campers in my kitchen (and in my Joni/computer room, the hardest part to give up) I neglected to wish our dear Gary Z. a bon anniversaire. So this is for you, Gary: mmmmmmmwah! I'll always treasure the first time we met after the Carnegie Hall tribute, breaking French bread in that Barangrill with Sherelle and Cassy and Donna B and Mary, as you stared a hole into your scrambled eggs while the rest of us Croqued Monsieurs. ; ) Merda alors! I can't get Sherelle's link to work, despite cutting and pasting the URL. Bonjour, Sherelle ma belle, SFS! I hope to hear/read this interview as soon as good fortune allows. What else? Oh, yeah. Snakes alive! Em, I hope you can bring out the hammers and the boards and the nails to snake-proof your deck. I'd freak out myself if a snake disturbed my peace. Hopefully it was just a poppy snake and it will sliiiiiiitttttttttttthhhhhhhhher away on brass like mouth piece spit and never rear it's scary head again. Nice jump, Muller! I'm sorry your faucet (or whatever) needs a plumber. And Catherine, you're lucky you're in the 16th floor in the air, where you don't have to worry about snakes....unless the snakes get ladders! Quoi d'autre? Oh yeah. I brought my brother and nephews to my Mermaid Cafe last night to hear Emely Ann. The nephews didn't really like the music (who couldn't like Sugar Magnolia and all those 70s gems?) but the table was laden high with sweeter fare through one set so they did okay. Emely Ann did a great BYT and when I hooted and clapped at the end (and Emely pointed over and said: "Thanks, Patti! We jazzed it up a little more for you...did you like it?"), the boys just shook their heads and twirled their fingers next to their heads, saying: "Aunt Patti's crazy." Ha. Do YOU think I was crazy? Okay, my nephew just showered off the dust and needs to come back in the room. Happy Sunday, everyJonibody, and play it cool, play it cool, if it's as hot and sticky where you are as it is here in New England. Vivian's voice is awesome. It's nice to hear this song covered, and the jazzier twist on the song makes it even better. This song was my favorite from this volume. > 2. Sara Gazarek - Carey Another great jazzy sound. Kind of reminds me of that playful Charlie Brown's Christmas piano, plus Sara has a great voice. > > 11. Colored Wolf - Shadows And Light > 12. The song selection that Colored Wolf covers is great, and the guitar playing is right on. Still, the vocals are missing. I don't know if it's a language barrier, but I don't think so. I wouldn't call his voice BAD, but it certainly isn't good in my opinion, so I had to skip these songs on my 3rd listen. > > 18. Terry Duggins - Rainy Night House: Danger, Will Robinson! Well, I never hear you say a song is really awful, so I thought this one would be great to listen to so I could cringe along with ya. After a second listen, I jumped the fence to the other side. I actually like Terry's voice on this song. I see where you're coming from, but it's just one of those voices that hit me in a good way. Perhaps if I heard him sing another song, I might agree, but to me is was like David Bowie singing......".......ground control to major Tom....." I liked it. I said, "no, it's John". We have had a very Beatle-y vacation with lots of Beatle tunes played and everyone taling in Brit accents and generally feeling fab all around.
