That being said, would you consider Joni to be one of the greatest female vocalists (splitting up female and male since that is how it is done...no intentions here)? Afterall, you can like someone and not think they have the greatest voice or even much of a voice (IE: Bob Dylan). What do you think? I love the variety in Joni's voice. The first song that I REALLY heard by her (I had known Big Yellow Taxi but didn't care for it and still don't) was Free Man In Paris. What first caught my attention was indeed her voice. The first time I heard the song I really loved the voice singing the song. The second time I heard it, I loved the words/melody. The third time, I was frustrated and determind to find out who was singing that song! This really caught me by surprise since generally speaking, female vocalists don't do much for me. Sure, they all have nice voices but they usually don't "strike" me so Joni coming into play really was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. -M - --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. Running against "uncommitted" Sen Clinton got 55% of the vote which is nothing to brag about congressional district parties have been passing resolutions demanding caucuses be held to select our delegates properly and openly and fairly, throwing out the invalid primary results Because of the demand from the grass roots, the state party is now considering a way to do things in accordance with party rules in which everyone gets to take part. The demands for what is now called a "re-do" has been supported in congressional district parties by supporters of both candidates and most of the union people - who knws how it will come out but what was done was done with a candidate (Clinton) breaking her word, and done without the participation of Michigan Democrats who were told it was an invalid primary so we just want it fair Maybe Clinton will get a bigger vote in a re-do, maybe smaller, but at least then it will be ah honest vote Vince On Tue, Mar 11, 2008 at 10:33 AM, Monika Bogdanowicz wrote: > I don't understand why voters are being punished in Michigan and Florida. > Do you know how many votes there are out there that have not counted? > Irregardless of who wins, I think every state should count. She and I know some of you are up to the task and wanted to share this with you. So check it out - win or lose it sounds like fun for music lovers! Still listening to Shine and I do love it! I think it probably will not end up in my top 5-Joni's of all time, but in the next group of 5 so that's pretty darn good considering her catalog of masterpieces. I have my favorites - so far but they have changed a little since the first listen ( Hannah, Night of the Iguana and of course the Grammy award winning instrumental). Been listening to all the political debates here and just wanted to throw my hat in the ring! Being from Chicago IL - I guess you must know who I support for president - or do you? Well let's see I was part of the movement for Obama's election to the Senate, in my part of town and thrilled at his election. On the other hand Hillary grew up just outside Chicago in Park Ridge. Of course I loved Bill - as a President and her as his teammate. Love the excitement that Obama inspires. I am a liberal and proud of it - and I am a feminist and proud of that. So keep guessing. The issue is that we don't let another Republican in the White House for a very long time! I choose ... the one who can best get us out of this economic mess as it is becoming debilitating to our country getting back on track and on its feet. War helps an economy - so the old soldiers used to say - and look how bad things are with one! I also took part, before moving from Chicago, in a huge anti-war demonstration that stopped traffic all over the city. I want out of Iraq now! Keep guessing! Ron Paul! Well no just kidding! Kind of ironic that as an unknown 3-term rep she got nominated for VP because she is a woman. Clinton closes many of her speeches with stories about how a single mom wants Clinton to win so her daughter will know in America anything can happen. That would be true of course with an Obama victory. Gender has a role - so does race - and can be positive or negative. Ferraro is really stretching reality when she suggests that so many dominately white states (Iowa, Wisconsin, Wyoming, etc etc etc etc) have voted for Obama because he is black. I would be more impressed if Ferraro resigned from the campaign at Clinton's request. Ferraro not stepping away from the campaign will ensure a heavy turnout of Obama voters in PA so just as well she stays on from that viewpoint.
