I know you'll get a laught out of this one. The dream started as I was on my way to work (even though I'm retired now) and listening to my usual radio station (WFUV). Herbie Hancock was the "guest DJ" and said Joni's sister was at the station to surprise Joni, who was on her way to the studio, and they were going to sing a duet together. In the dream, Joni's sister's name was Muriel. After they sang the song, I was so excited, I tried to type my story in to let everyone on the JMDL know about it but whatever computer I was on wasn't sending the story in. So, I called someone on the list and told them the story. When they asked me what song Joni and her "sister" sang, I couldn't remember the name and said, "you know, that new one off Shine, the first one on the album." (The first one on Shine is an instrumental, of course.) Then, on my way home from "work", I found myself in the back of a big Chevy van, with Joni and her sister. Herbie was driving, and there were no seats in the back of the van, so we were sitting on the floor with our backs against the inside wall of the van and a blanket covering us from our waists to our feet (I guess it was cold?). Joni was on my right, and her sister was on Joni's right. We were all talking like we were best friends when I turned to my right and softly kissed Joni on her left cheek, then her neck. As I did this, Joni suddenly leaned forward, shouting, "Look, look! It's a puffer fish." As I turned to look, I saw a puffer fish jumping around on top of the blanket. It seemed that Herbie, Joni and her sister had been fishing before they picked me up, and there was a white bucket in the back of the van, with some fishing poles and such. The fish had gotten loose and, as we started to try and catch the fish, I woke up. I know, it's a weird one, but that's how it was. This is one of about a half-dozen Joni-related dreams I've had over the years. The last two were about JoniFests and Joni attended the fest in my last dream before this one, about a year ago. It's 6 AM... I'm going to try and go back to sleep. Maybe there'll be a sequel. Kenny B ************** Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Our local singer-songwriter radio station is still playing it daily. In fact, Niki the music director, often lets "One Week Last Summer" segue right into "This Place". I can't remember Niki ever playing 2 songs back-to-back from an album except when she's introducing a new album. I know it's not because I sent over pizza when "Shine" and "River" were new. Republicans were the majority. In fact, this was Bush's baby. (The Dem's had their own plan, a much better one, but couldn't get it thru.) The Bush Administration lied about the costs as they needed just a few more Republicans to vote on the bill, and these Republicans would only vote if the cost fell under a certain dollar amount (the actual cost was more than what these few Republicans were willing to vote on, but they were lied to). The head actuary was told to withhold this information or lose his job (his boss was applying for a job as pharmaceutical lobbyist at the time). Congressman Tauzin (Republican), who pushed the bill through congress, left congress shortly after and took a job as president of PhRMA. Furthermore, the program is not better for the poor, because the poor have now lost their Medicaid rx coverage, which in most cases was more comprehensive, and Medicaid was allowed to negotiate rx prices. With Medicare Part D, the gov't is prohibited from negotiating prices. Hopefully this will change soon. I've read that the new congress is trying to fix this. I looked at the Walmart formulary and not one single rx I take now (or have taken in the last ten years) is on that list. But it is a good deal for anyone that can use those particular rx's. I may have to take advantage of the $4 ibuprofen (400 mg), instead of buying over-the-counter ibuprofen ;) Mia From: kbhla@fastmail.fm To: hvnphun16@hotmail.com; joni@smoe.org Subject: Re: njc Health Care Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2008 23:11:39 -0800 Call me naive, but I thought it wasn't just the Republicans but most of Congress (which is majority Democrat) who passed the prescription drug program. People were clamoring for years for the program for seniors. The program is very good for the poor and I thought that is who everyone ultimately was thinking of when they passed it. If you are low income and have no property, you pay a very, very low amount for coverage. My mom is low income but does own her house so she doesn't qualify for the lowest monthly charge. It is still better than what she would pay otherwise, however. I know WalMart is considered part of the evil empire but they (and I think a few other of the "big box" stores) only charge $4.00 per prescription for most medicines. Hi Monika, You crack me up! People are VERY enthusiastic about Hillary here in AR where she got about 70% of the vote and spent many years in public service. The night of the primary, people were standing on a street corner holding honk if you are for Obama signs, and hardly anybody honked but you could hear people shouting out their car windows, "HILLARY!" When Hillary spoke here at the high school there was a black student across the stadium from us who went wild when Hillary entered the gym. She really made a scene. She went cuckoo for Hillary as if she was a child of the 60's seeing one of the Beatles. Young people are very much for Hillary here. Today after we came home from school my youngest was in the next room and out of the blue started cheering Hillary! Hillary! Hillary! I just asked him why he did that and he said he didn't know why. He just loves Hillary. Obama promotes contempt for Hillary in subtle ways by playing on anti-establishment sentiments and insinuating that Hillary is part of that establishment, almost as if she is a Republican. He sets up an "us and them" mentality which he has used to successfully build up a cult of believers around him. But, that kind of campaigning promotes ignorance in my opinion. It plays on people's emotions as they make up their minds who to vote for and leads them away from investigating the other candidate and the issues. "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance--- that principle is contempt prior to investigation." THEN during the Reagan error tobacco suddenly became the scapegoat for pollution beginning in Beverly Hills about 1984. By 1988 i became SO disgusted with the intolerant California health kick that I started eating meat & smoking again & moved back to my hometown Pittsburgh. ... Now i don't intend to be a poster child for the tobacco industry but what i have learned is that the chemicals we use on a daily basis are a million times more sickening than mere cigarrettes! i became a house painter (like hitler) & 7 years ago became SO chemically sensitive that i can no longer tolerate being inside most buildings for more than an hour without feeling sick. I think it's probably easy pointing at cigarette smoking as evil and a major cause of pollution (major being a relative term) because you can see an individual lighting up and it's easy to spot. Other sources of pollution are harder to spot. It's also easier to argue with an individual than it is to take on a corporation. I'm pretty sensitive to a lot of fumes myself though I've never worked as a painter. I can see how someone who works with that stuff on a regular basis could become sick from the fumes. I can't tolerate the smell of oil-based paints and certain solvents. I get sick to my stomach or I get a bad headache. I also can't take certain types of perfumes. I'm not sure what the ingredient is that gets me, but a lot of the scents are the ones that guys wear and I always get a metallic taste in my mouth when I smell the stuff and get congested. A lot of places (workplaces and theatres and so on) ask people not to wear perfume because I guess a lot of people are affected that way. I've always refrained from buying scented products. My son has eczema and used to break out in hives when he was a baby if he was exposed to certain products so I've always been careful with that stuff (I was careful with it even before one of the kids had a reaction but since my experience with sunblocks when Matt was a baby, have been even more careful.) I just think it's best to stay away from that stuff if it's not necessary. It's better to take a shower once in a while than to cover up the stink (heh-heh.) All this to say that smoking is only one, and probably a fairly minor one, of many irritants we're exposed to and there's a lot worse out there but I guess it's best to just be moderate about everything. I'm sure if I could smoke one cigarette a day or one once in a while as a ceremonial thing, then I would do it, but I know I'd never be able to stop at just one. Nice show with performances by alot of people that I was not expecting, especially my friend Theresa Andersson who is famous on this list for her cover of Blue (enter Covers King). She played an original with another friend Annie Clements (bass player daughter of my friend Cranston Clements) and then played violin on a tune with Albert Lee. Also on the show: Brian May, David Gilmour, Paul Rodgers, Joe Walsh, Wix from McCartney's band on keys, Tino Paladino on Bass, Mike Rutherford, and a host of other players. The cool thing about the program was they did not have all the predictable players on that you would think. Clapton, Jeff Beck, etc etc. I liked the fact that they had young players mixed in with some other unexpected players. Show let down: Ronnie Wood. who was 3 sheets to the wind and played a song on an acoustic Gibson guitar (on a Fender Strat Celebration show) and then proceeded to sing badly and play badly, but then pulled it out with a rousing version of Stay With Me with everyone that played on the whole show playing along on Strats and Paul Rodgers singing lead. I love his voice and always have since the days of Free and of course Bad Company. WE also saw a great special on my pal Eric Johnson which was flawless. Heads up people who have this channel!
