If you look due south of Port Townsend and a little to the right of the highway 104 marker, you will find the town of Shine, Washington! I know I must have either been through Shine or at least seen a road sign for it during some trip up that way. I seem to have a vague memory of it. I have the album. I compared Dusty's version vs Diana's version. Dusty won. Diana sings the song greatly, but there is something special that Dusty has and Diana does not have. I am not sure what that was. Can you recommend me another great Dusty songs besides The Look of Love and You Don't Have To Say You Love Me? Rian NP. Dusty You Don't Have To Say You Love Me. - --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. She seduces the ear with this song and the hardest of hearts (or hardest of hearing?) would have a hard time resisting. And according to Snopes this guy Chong did forward the message which is how his name became associated with it. BTW, I have a friend who doesn't believe in Snopes as a reputable reference for these types of things. He thinks it is left wing biased. >Hi Jonilistas, My dad, a retired AF Lt. Colonel, recently send this to me (below). I would like to hear your opinion about this essay. Love and appreciation, Laura< Kakki>>Unfortunately Laura prefaced her first email by saying her dad knew him and passed it along to her for comments. That gave credibility to it being from Gen. Chong. The first thing I thought was that Generals do not talk like that and would most likely never, ever write an email like that and send it around the internet.<< ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2007 01:05:43 -0500 From: "Eric Taylor" Subject: Re: Joni essentials Essentials: (pick 3) 1. ET ~Craving simplicity~ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2007 22:34:41 -0800 From: Subject: Snopes and Chong (njc) Kate, Snopes says that an email, originally written by an attorney to his sons, was sent around the internet and then was added to and re-written. A search of the internet reveals at least 3 versions of the purported General Chong email and none of them contain the content of the original email from the attorney. The other versions are either shorter or much longer than what we read - obviously because several persons added to it as it went along. By the way, there is even a version of it written from the muslim view. People are responding to a hoax and if someone has just sent it around saying it was written by their neighbor, I doubt there would be as much reaction to it. People would probably just write it off as from some bozo. But coming purportedly from a U.S. General would probably give people more alarm and they would take the content more seriously. All I can say is poor General Chong! Geez. From his bio, he seemed to be a very good and intelligent surgeon who retired from the military way back in the mid-90s. Also, sorry for my double postings today. Didn't mean to add that much to the spam! Kakki Kate wrote: If you read the explanation, Snopes says that the email was actually written by someone else & attributed to Chong when he forwarded it on (similar to people here thinking that Laura's Dad wrote it cuz he forwarded it on). People on this list here were responding to the unfortunate content not the author. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2007 #484 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe -------
