JC Joni asks from the bottom & top of her big heart: 'Holy Earth how can we heal you?' This is the reoccurring theme of SHINE. 'Everyone's a victim! Nobody's hands are clean.' I've been pondering this massive mess for decades now and concluded long ago that 'the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations' (from the last chapter of the Christian Bible, Rev 22:2). Not only do trees provide us small humans with most fruit, medicine and fuel, but trees are the very lungs of our little planet! Fact: just one fast growing tree like the redwood can remove up to 50 tons of carbon from the atmosphere EVERY YEAR people. Fiction: there is nothing we can do to help. Reality: The most important thing, far more important than our endless holy wars, is preventing our exponential extinction via deforestation and dirty terrorist oil! According to the October 2007 National Geographic we gluttonous humans are dumping 8 billion metric tons of into our lovely sky this year alone!!! Next year it will be 10 billion tons thanks to China catching up to US weaker and weaker American dreamers..... So who out there can do the math and figure out how many redwoods it would take to absorb our increasing gas and convert it back into good oxygen? Hey, Sir Dick Branscom has a $250,000.00 award for the first person who can figure out this serious problem. If I won this reward I would use it all to purchase as many trees and grasses that money can buy and plant them. Planting billions of the fastest growing plants like redwood, eucalyptus, hemp and especially bamboo is how we can heal holy earth. While most of the world is rushing to turn our beautiful home into one big parking lot, clearcutting forests the size of Delaware every day to grow cheap beef for fast-food junkies, there is still a little hope. SHINE has gotten me really fired up! I love you Joni!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ET ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2007 23:48:07 -0800 From: Subject: Joni and Charlie It's against the law in California to smoke in enclosed work places so normally Joni would not be allowed to smoke - but didn't someone say Tavis let her smoke on his show? (I haven't viewed that one yet). Maybe they paid the fine ;-) Charlie seemed to me the same personality he has always been but I do recall way back he was always with a cigarette himself on the show! (He was also quite handsome back in the day). He should have done the interview "offsite", let her talk at length for about four hours and then edited it down to an hour. Hee. I think the lyric of that song is too long to remember. And about Woman of Heart And Mind, Its interesting how the word F*** was not bleeped or omitted from the record. For Gods sake, that was 1972! Or, could people say the word f*** freely in the 1970s? Another F word on Jonis songs : On The Beat of Black Wings I can't even hear the fucking music playing For the beat of the beat of black wings On Tax Free Fuck it! Tonight I'm going dancing With the drag queens and the punks The Fs on those 2 songs dont mean sexual act. But still, theyre F words. On Madonnas American Life, there are 4 fuck it. Those F*** dont mean sexual act. But they were enough to make a parental advisory logo appeared on the album cover. Or, on another version, the Fs were omitted, and the album cover contained no more logo. This case raised a new question : How could Joni didnt get busted while Madonna did get busted? Rian NP. My impression, and I could be wrong, is that the 70's were alot free-er. The Reagan-ized, sanitized, "just say no", de-balled 80's were more restrictive. (not to mention being wayyyyyy more of a drag) That's my guess. And I hate to say it but the Tipper Gore thing, too. I forget if that was 80's or 90's. Big thrust to "sanitize" lyrics. The word was certainly not used freely in popular music when FTR came out-Joni may have been the first major female artist to put it in a song. It did seem very bold at the time. The first modern use I can think of (it was used on various recordings in the 1930's) would be in the cast recording of the musical "Hair" in 1968, in one song repeating a line referring to 'Abey Baby' Lincoln as the "emanci-motherfucking-pater of the slaves". Lennon famously used it twice in "Working Class Hero" from his first solo LP in Dec. 1970. Most likely Zappa or some other "underground" rock artists began using it around that time, too. Parental advisory stickers were not put into use until Tipper Gore's PMRC obscenity hearings in 1985, when the record companies agreed to 'voluntarily' use them to avoid an enforced rating system for records.
