You know the one with the house... Probably a composite of people representing a type but worth pondering if she had had someone specifically in mind. BTW We just played our Joni show at Idyllwild Jazz festival with what is now an 8-piece band and it went great. We had the biggest crowd of any act all weekend on our stage (there were three stages). Opened with Shadows and Light, which sounded magnificent right out of the gate) and bam into FMIP. Lots of people singing along in the audience and tears rolling down cheeks during Blue and NRH. Wish you all could have been there.... Yeah. She's definitely living on nerves and feelings, with a weak and a lazy mind to boot. Talk about fumbling deaf dumb and blind! I wonder what school of southern charm she attended? Throwing the lightness on these things Laughing it all away Laughing it all away Laughing it all away, Patti P., in an ooby shooby zoo of a workplace today...."they're baaaaaaaaaaaack!" But as much as I dreaded losing my peaceful quiet campus, I must say it is invigorating. After all, life is for learning, right? Darn right! P.S. I'm interviewing potential student office workers, and after I ask all the regular questions about schedules and majors and experience, I find myself asking: "Do you like Joni Mitchell?" God or heaven full of astronauts help me, because I can't help myself! It just comes out. But don't worry. It's just my own little affirmative Joni-action. I wouldn't NOT hire anyone if s/he didn't know or like Joni....I guess I just feel the need to: 1. Prepare them for what is to come: "much Joni" as Jamie Z. says. (And mean ole Boopsie would call it "hazardous working conditions.") 2. Assess their Joni knowledge so as to place them in the correct Joni class: 101, remedial, 200-level, or graduate level. They all come from such different sets of circumstance. One thing is for sure: no one *ever* leaves this place of employ without knowing who Joni Mitchell is. Ha. And just WAIT until September 25th! They ain't seen nothin' yet! _________________________________________________________________ Find a local pizza place, movie theater, and more.then map the best route! http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&ss=yp.bars~yp.pizza~yp.movie%20theater&cp=42.358996~-71.056691&style=r&lvl=13&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=950607&encType=1&FORM=MGAC01 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2007 17:53:28 EDT From: AMARY559@aol.com Subject: Top 3 Joni moments My top 3: 1. I was sitting at my back door on a warm summer's day soaking up the rays a well as HOSL when Edith came on and the line about how he "tilts her head gently to the spoon" just exploded in my head - I can only compare it to some orgasmic - goose bumps ran up and down my body with the imagery involved. 2. Speaking of HOSL & "orgasmic" I once made love to HOSL and got my girlfriend hooked on Joni as well - the things we do to spread the joy of Joni! 3. All the other joy and support that Joni's music has brought me over the years - I know its corny but the truth often is! Benvenuta, Pamela! Ciao, Pamela and the rest of the Jonimonde! Benvenuta fra i membri della nostra lista! Il tuo Inglese e eccellente ma anche se non lo fosse, non scusarti per essere italiana o entusiasta di Joni! "Welcome to the list! Your English is excellent. Even if it weren't, don't ever apologize for being Italian or for being excited about Joni." I scribbled the English on the back of an envelope (alas, not a cartoon coaster) and my department head translated it into Italian for you. (She is from Tuscany and a scholar of Umberto Eco, Samuel Beckett, and others -- a wonderful lady. I'm working on making her a Joni scholar, too. She is totally cool with me taking September 25th off from work. Who could ask for anything more in a boss?) It is wonderful to know that you share our excitement, and that you are spreading some Joni around Italy. Do you know Adriano? And kudos to you for writing in your non-native language. That takes courage. I know it's not easy -- I work in the Dept. of Modern and Classical Languages at a university. I know from first-hand experience how humbling it is to learn another language. The important thing is that we TRY. So, bravissima, bella! Please do not hesitate to write. We all speak the same language here: Joni. Plus we are all human and we all make mistakes. Speaking of languages, I have a sweet story to share, about my oldest son. I always encouraged him to study languages but, in his words: "I *did* my three years of French. Why should I do more?" Argh! (Monika, he's the one who threw my French music tape out of the window when he was younger.) Anyway, he just went on his honeymoon -- a Mediterranean cruise. He sent me a postcard from Rome, in which he used the word "amazing" three times. That was cool, but the best one was from France. He wrote: "Mom, Bonjour!" "Mom, Bonjour?" That made my heart sing. I don't know if I can describe the feeling. After all these seasons going round and round, *finally*, "affection and respect, a little passion" maybe? Yeah, Joni always has the perfect words. Encore une fois, benvenuta, Pamela! And pleasant dreams -- or Chelsea Morning if you are just waking up on the other side of this marbled bowling ball -- to all Joniamigos. Love, Patti P. I don' t know exactly which are my 3 best moments about joni, but this is surely one of them! her new album!!! I listen to joni since about 2 years ago, and i've fallen in love....i'm a singer, and i sing her songs around my place because here (italy) nobody knows her! (only a few fond of music) and i want to bring her message to everybody (that can understand...) i've never thought i have the opportunity to live this moment, because i knew that he left the music scene....but she did !! and i'm here waiting! maybe she's going to perform again! i wanted to share this beautiful moment with you, thank you. i love her and i love you all!! i hope i didn't do too much mistakes, sorry 'cause i'm italian and i'm very excited, too. pamela luccarelli _________________________________________________________________ Booking a flight?
