The song does not "spook" me, though the mental images do get quite graphic and I can feel dread at times. I Love Yeats and loved him since I was 16 years old. Yeats is still the #!, concerning his poem. I certainly understand where many of you are coming from when defending his work. Yet's Joni voice and expression adds a calm unique beauty and the music and the militaristic drum and musical effects play in my mind, painting pictures and scenes that were new to me and still continue to develop into different new, and still powerful images. when I get into the song. When I go there, it's always an experience that has no comparison to any song I can listen to. Es pura belleza con una linda potenza y poder tan unica. Thank you! Hi....wow is it ever raining and raining and raining... I received so many individual e-mails about my four Poodles and Poodle-sitting just one. Evoked a lot of reactions in many of you. I come from generations (both sides of my family) of animal lovers. My grandmother (who died on Christmas morning of 2006 at 103 and 4 months...I originally wrote 104) absolutely adored dogs and had pictures of my Poodle family all over the room for company. She had so many childhood experiences with dogs...some extremely interesting. When she was in her mid-to late 90's I bought her a beautiful white cat. She named her "Snowball", a name she once had for a dog during her childhood. She loved "Snowball" but her skin was beginning to get too delicate for her to keep "Snowball" and that was just around the time my mom and I knew my grandmother needed to be in the nursing home....this was a continuing care community where she had an apartment for years and kept after my grandfather's death. My father was a Master Horseman (I never knew this title even existed) and named his beloved horse "Warwoop". I have a perfectly wonderful photo of my oh so young father with his beloved horse. Growing up we only had one Poodle before my brother was adopted. This Poodle was named "Tippie" and became depressed...oh so depressed...after Mike's arrival that my parents found him a new home. My sister called not long ago...she is on a brief holiday with my niece Susan and Susan's three children. She's coming home (raining there...Wildwood...today, after having had a glorious day of warm sun yesterday...all day. This puts me in a very peculiar position...."Maggie", Susan's snow white Toy Poodle and I have grown very close and even Sammie has "given up" and accepts Maggie. I don't want Maggie to leave. Laura, now you have a lot of animals....I could do without the mouse....VERY frightened of them...and I hope each one brings you and your family much love and pleasure. So, my friends, in my mind, one can never have too many loving animals. Beegie was (only) 12 when he died... my Airedale. Caring for Ruffy-Ann, Laura, is a sad but inevitable experience. So, I guess the book by John Grogin, "Marley & Me" might be of interest to some of us? And "The Dog Whisperer", Cesar Milan, who authored "Cesar's Way" might also be of reading or watching interest...every Friday night (here) at 8, sometimes for a few hours...on The Animal Channel. Cesar's book tells us so much more about Cesar than about his gift of being a dog whisperer. Now, about the "chance" meeting with Joni and Kelly. This may have been, probably was, a liberating experience for Joni. The complexities of her feelings of having Kelly adopted were enormous, I would think. This truly was a synergistic moment, Em & Bob. Thankfully, Joni is so gifted in so many ways that she was able to express her feelings, her sorrow. My parents adopted Mike in 1960. The story is a wonderful one but not for now. The birth mother had five other children and knew she would not live through child-birth. My parents were concerned about the other children, and I'm quite sure would have given them all a loving home, but this information wasn't available, although they made their intentions clear. I have this beautiful poster (framed, natch) of Joni's "Wild Things" tour in 1983. It has been with me ever since...once in my office (because I spent long, long hours there and also "needed" Joni with me). This poster has been with me through so many...I mean soooo many moves and now is on my wall, above my bed, offering equal and sometimes even more comfort than ever before. I was contemplating my Joni OCD condition yesterday. Thank goodness...oh my, oh my, thank goodness, is my thinking today. 35 days to go!!!! In a recent Digest, a male artist was mentioned. I just can't remember his name and didn't take notes. Help?? A long time ago I mentioned AneBrun's first CD, "A Temporary Dive". Very interesting...very good. Thanks for allowing me to ramble on and on....I have other things I want to write about but, for today, farewell to all. Be safe...know many moments of sheer joy!
