A certain jihadi Imam recanted, I recall reading this past week-end, saying something along the lines, that this was no jihad, solely a ploy where Iraqi citizens can be used as sectarian killing machines, one on one, on each other, making no sense who or what they're killing, maiming and torturing for. Just another type of repellent being used by the big boys and the clueless, stupid ones fall right into it, in the name of religion. This sectarian violence eases pressure on war-maker machinery, for sure. jean NP: Crying, Waiting, Hoping - Keith Richards - --- Jim L'Hommedieu wrote: > Right after the war, the US sent hundreds of people > over there to rebuild > bridges, electrical utilities, water treatment > plants, and water purifying > facilities. I know that I passed on it initially but picked it up used 2 years ago at a store here that obviously had no clue who Joni was or what it contained (got it for $5.00). I remember there was some controversy about "remastered" or "not remastered". By my definition of remastered, no they weren't, but they were transcribed into HDCD and the sound quality is vastly improved by my ears over the original CD issues that they are still selling domestically. Heck, the booklet alone is worth the price of the set. I see they are issuing it as a limited edition in Japan, October 1st, with a hefty price tag. Yes, Bob, I would agree the whole concept was kind of lame other than Joni's own liner notes. Bruce in Tucson Bob.Muller@Fluor.com wrote: >Man, the Geffen set didn't even break the 5,000 mark. May I add a number 4? 4. *use* Joni's lessons in survival to persevere in trying to understand where other people are coming from before writing them off or judging them. We all come from such different sets of circumstance. You just never know what horrible baggage someone is lugging around. Err on the side of kindness. My Joni beret is off to you, Vince. Love & peace, Patti P. I belong to an email list where some guy has been constantly trashing me because I am clergy and trashing Christianity which God knows (no pun intended) can use some trashing now and again but this guy was really unfair and just bitter and nasty. And God and you all know I should be trashed but this guy was on my case just because of my faith and vocation. But I did note he was from Ireland and he made a passing comment about something that I understood only because I listen to Joni - he was raised in the Magdalene Laundries. So I emailed him and said hey, God knows you have suffered and I am outraged this happened to you or anyone. You may think I am scum because I am a Christian who works in the church and representatives of the Church did this to your mother and you but please know I cry for you. And I am playing Joni's song for you in your honor. (And of course I did play the song...) He sent me back the following reply - I share it with you after removing some identifying detail to share three things: 1. that Joni can help bridge all kinds of chasms and 2. we can ever learn much from Joni who opened us to things we never would know otherwise and 3. some background from people who lived what she wrote about. peace to all share the blessings of love - _________________________________________________________________ Find a local pizza place, movie theater, and more.then map the best route! http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&ss=yp.bars~yp.pizza~yp.movie%20theater&cp=42.358996~-71.056691&style=r&lvl=13&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=950607&encType=1&FORM=MGAC01 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Aug 2007 23:21:34 -0400 (EDT) From: Catherine McKay Subject: Re: the going rate????! - --- "P. I've always wanted to know how many"cool and in the know," folk there were out there who bought and listened to Joni. Though, as I read the national sales journal reports, I must admit that I was thrust back to my Marketing 101 Class at UTSA back in the early nineteen-hundred and 80's. It felt weird going back to a Joni thought with business class on my mind. Joni's always been meditative-contemplative time and music for me, never thinking about the business aspect of it.
