They are set to sign a 'great female artist' 20.Jul.07 2:33pm It has been rumoured that Starbucks is set to sign Joni Mitchell to their Hear Music label. CEO Ken Lombard said in press conference on Wednesday (July 18) in London that the label would announce its next signing in the next few weeks, according to a music industry insider. However Martin Talbot from music industry magazine Music Week gave away more clues about who it was, he said: "He (Lombard) briefed me yesterday on who that was and I'm absolutely sworn to secrecy. "But it is another big name artist - one of the all-time great female artists which will, I think, reaffirm what Hear Music is all about." It has been speculated that the female artist would be Joni Mitchell. The "worship" I have never seen as overtly religious but more that 'worship' that comes from adoring fans who see their hero as a (demi-)god or from critics who can turn so quickly as Joni discovered when she released her masterpeice HOSL. This line is almost a warning to herself not to get too caught up in the hype - something I think she accomplished artistically as she was never prepared to repeat but always to progress. The line also echoes LOTC "tiny hammers hurled at bevelled mirrors and empty halls". Just to make this clear I am proposing that the catering is done on a not for profit basis and that any money left overr be donated to several charities. I am either thinking of an AIDS charity like the Terrence Higgins Trust and A leukaemia support charity such as the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia Support Association. I do not envisage much being over but I think its good to moot these points now. All accounts will be open to inspection and available to all who attend the FEST. I will suggest that a Pay Pal account is set up for this venture so that there is a clear audit trail for monies in and out. SO what say you. I need to put down a deposit very very soon so I need you to commit now but no money would be needed until about May 2008. I must come out of my slumbering lurkdom to reiterate for those that just can't seem to get their minds around it - you LOST Muller, you lost. No need to feel to bad about it though, we are very gracious winners and are, i suppose, still willing to mix with you and your ilk;-) We are the champions We are the champions No time for losers 'Cause we are the champions....of the world Oh yes, we are. Y E S ! ! ! I love the Cotswolds! I spent some time in Broadway and Chipping Camden when I was in diapers and I would love to go back to the area before I am in diapers again! Thank you for doing this, Queen Lulu. Perhaps our collective recollections are a bit jaded. I will defer to Adriano who was watching close by and who, unlike you & I, is brimming with honesty and integrity. By the same token, in the 12-step world, you & Garret have set a new record for remaining in the DENIAL phase. Congrats to you both at least for THAT accomplishment.
