Thank you for speaking from your heart and mind. Gentle, but eloquent. As Cindy wearily but strongly stated when I met her: "It's not about politics. It's about life and death." I don't like to bash anyone either...it's not my style...but this warmongering deceitful administration has got to go. My heart is broken, too. So many people dying and being maimed and scarred psychologically for life, with no end in sight. And our brave soldiers who come home in one piece: what kind of parents are they going to be? The "gift" goes on. It boggles the heart and mind if you really see and feel what is happening. Peace! Wage peace! Patti P. No, you are not the only one who is outraged. I don't want to get partisan because I don't think things like this should be done with any president. I keep hearing on TV, "Well what about the Democrats? Blah, blah, blah..." and "Well what about the Republicans? Blah, blah, blah..." I have to ask, "Well what about just doing the right thing?" One's party affiliation shouldn't excuse or accuse. In the end, a person just does the right thing or the wrong thing. My biggest sadness with President Bush is that he really doesn't care what anyone else thinks, anyone being his constituents. To me, he is like a spoled child who screamed, "Gimme, gimme, gimme the White House..."and he got it. I just don't believe that this is the way representation is really supposed to go. I feel left out, left behind and cast aside by him and my heart is broken over it. My heart is broken for our country because it's full of people who feel they don't matter anymore. I don't hate the president, but I certainly do hate what he's done. It doesn't matter if he's a republican or a democrat, he just doesn't seem to care about my opinion. He promised that he would try to be a president for all of the people and asked me to give him a chance. I did. But as I look, I see and feel that it was just a bunch of empty words and I am personally hurt by it. I have a friend from Denmark and if I have my facts straight, the leader of her country listened to the heart of the people who did not wish to be in this Iraq war and withdrew the troops. Whether you feel that was right or wrong is open to debate but what broke my heart is the fact that her leader actually listened to his/her constituents. I think that is where my sadness lies. I'm not trying to bash Bush or be partisan. I'm just telling you that my heart is broken over the inability of my president to listen to his people. Thanks for letting me get that out. That's probably all I'm going to say on the matter but had to speak up for my buddy Patti.... A double Hallelujah from deep down in the heart of Texas!! What I don't understand are these staunchiest conservative right wingers who keep defending Bush as if he were actually accomplishing something for this country of ours, other than filling in their own personal pockets and if he doesn't do that, then what are they defending? What are you defending, Bree? See, these are the things that I just can't fathom in the most outter edges of my head when I try my hardest to be emphathetic. To me, this is really sicko stuff happening right in front of our eyes. Federico Fellini's, 'Satyricon,' has got nothing over George W. Bush and his administration. So, so sad and so damn pathetic that we're actually going through this nightmare. jeannie PS And to Marianne, thanks for the suggestion concerning 'The Girl In The Cafe." I've seen it, but it's been quite awhile and I'll go get it again. I might go off into some movies or some books, because thinking "George Bush" has got to be one of the nastiest and stifling thoughts my mind can have. I must go outside now to get some fresh Texas air. I hope he's off in Maine somewhere. Nowhere near here.
