The teenagers armed with a gun approached a man outside a pizza restaurant in Marietta, Georgia, late on Monday. They stole his wallet and the keys to his Honda Accord, got into the car but couldn't make it start because it had stick shift, according to John Williamson, 18, a restaurant employee. "The kid was just sitting in the car trying to start it but he had no idea what to do. He looked dumbfounded. The only thing he had going was the radio," said Williamson who witnessed the scene. While the thief was trying to start the car, restaurant employees called the police who arrived and caught the teenagers as they tried to escape into nearby woods. We do read. So many of us have used Joni's music as a catharsis. Many of us here suffer as you do. Through the years, we've tried to be there for each other. It seems to be a cycle of support for one another. When one person is able to see clearly, they turn around and help someone else lost in the fog. That's how it goes. We understand which is what we have in common. Joni's music is so beautiful, her lyrics so honest, it's like a catharsis for all the "lostness" we feel. One part of a song of Joni's that always helps me put things in perspective is from Heijira: "There's comfort in melancholy When there's no need to explain It's just as natural as the weather In these moody skies today...." We all have one song of hers that speaks directly to our hearts. We all understand. Just let these emotions wash over you like water. Don't drink them in...just let them wash you. Tuesday I got the word that I had sold my house (three months on the market much better than the current average 10-15 mos. in MI) Wednesday one of my very closest friends was killed in a motorcycle accident - he was hit by a garbage truck running a late yellow as he made a right turn on red. His family locked his girlfriend of 7 years out of the house, they had the locks changed the day he died. The day of his funeral a dumpster was delivered to his home and they began pitching his things... they lost a ton of money by doing this; he had every copy of Playboy magazine from 1960-2007 and they just tossed them... threw away a bolt of fabric in his garage - he'd just paid almost $1,000 for it to re-upholster the interior of his 1968 Galaxy. Now I am in the midst of sweating the final closing on the house, moving my son to his father's, having a moving sale, final packing, renting a truck, soliciting helpers and driving to Seattle with my Jeep in tow.
