His first record with the Pat Metheny Group was the album FIRST CIRCLE(1984), although in the doble live album TRAVELS (1983) his name is included in the "very special thanks" section. Through all these years Pedro has shown why is (IMO) the most talented musician of Argentina in the last 30 years. Before joining the PMG, we in Argentina considered him the best bass player in the country and he was part of the most popular rock group of that time (Seru Giran), making wanders with his fretless bass. Imagine our surprise when we learned that Pat Metheny had invited him to join the group as singer/percussionist (!!) replacing Nana Vasconcellos (1983). Evidently Pat knew something we didn't. But then again, there's only one Pat M. Pedro recorded with PMG these albums: First Circle (1984) won Grammy 1985 Letter From Home (1989) won Grammy 1990 The Road to You (1991- Released 1993) won Grammy 1994 Being that I enjoy Joni's work with Jaco Pastorius, and given the growth of Pedro Aznar as a complete musician, I wonder what a colaboration between him and Joni could be... Pat Metheny knows good talent by having him do the vocals on one of his songs! Excellent! I'm hooked on both of them. Roxana has a My Space site which I promptly located and asked to become her friend. I wish Pedro did but he doesn't at this time. I'll keep looking for him though! Amazing! And my friend, I am speechless that you have played my music on your radio station. You have always given me hope when I had none for myself. You will always be my heart my dear friend Joseph! Love, Sherelle Joseph wrote: Thanks for the clip, Bob. I don't know Roxana Amed but do I know Pedro Aznar! The first time I heard of him was because he provided the voice/vocal to Pat Metheny's "Letter From HOme" in 1989 and the subsequent "Live in Europe" concert CD which chronicled the "Letter From Home" tour. Pedro Aznar sang/vocalized the mindlblowingly beautiful "Dream of the Return" and "Vidala" as well as the riotously funky "Have You Heard", "Beat 70","5-5-7" and "Slip Away". And he is very good that until now after several years I find myself humming to the songs he sang in Pat Metheny's album. I play a lot of Pedro Aznar, Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays on the radio during my show (and played all of Sherelle Cary Smith's songs in her album since I began in Sepetmebr but that's a different story altogether). So seeing Pedro play bass and sing at the same time brought back fond memories (as well as the Philippine coup d'etat that happened in that same period when I was listening to Pat Metheny's album continuously). I bought a poster of "Chair in the Sky" from the Mingus cover, and it was one of the few Joni things I didn't put up on the raffle...maybe next year? Also, while I was in art school at UC Irvine, one of my professors was invited to contribute to a "Save the Bay" benifit for Santa Monica bay, and I was invited. The premise of the thing was that all of the artists got a surfboard to do their art on, and Joni contributed one. Hers was stuck all over with sand and garbage from the beach, including some "used" prophylactics and tampons. Scientists believe that this helium 3 could be used to create a new source of almost inexhaustible, clean, pollution-free energy on Earth. One of them is Dr Harrison Schmitt, a member of the 1972 Apollo 17 mission and the only trained geologist ever to walk on the Moon. "A metric ton of helium 3 would supply about one-sixth of the energy needs today of the British Isles," he claims.
