Grabster" Subject: 1960s Songwriting Chronology This is something I've wanted to compile for a few years now. I've somehow overcome my highly developed procrastinatory abilities to get it started. I've listed all known (by me) song titles, both unreleased and released. I would like to find the dates the songs were written, within a few months if possible, drawing from interviews or things said during performances. For example, in the 1968 Broadside interview, she said that Urge For Going developed from August to October 1965. Any other Early Joni fanatics want to add or correct? That's so true. Like Jerry Garcia said 'you either like licorice or you don't'. From: > he had just underwent some sort of primal scream therapy to help him in Calif. with Dr. Arthur Janov. What you said about the guitar was right on-Also Ringo's wonderful, heavy drums, and the simplicity of Klaus Voorman's bass thumping. Most of the songs were done in 1 or 2 takes-and remind me a bit of Neil working with Crazy Horse-very basic garage rock. Produced with Phil Spector who played piano on "Love", Billy Preston played piano on "God". Yoko commisioned remixes in 2000 of Lennon's solo catalog - -it's also available as a MFSL super disc- but for some reason, the original mixes sound better to me, even if the sonics are not as good. Better awk. Despite no hit single, this album reached #11 and stayed on the charts for 11 weeks. RR ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 23:51:49 -0500 From: "Snatch N. Neil Young turned 20 in fall 1965. He also cut a demo of the song for Elektra Records in 1965. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2007 #147 ***************************** ------- Post messages to the list by clicking here: mailto:joni@smoe.org Unsubscribe by clicking here: mailto:joni-digest-request@smoe.org?body=unsubscribe -------
