I discovered Pandora I. R. on which I created a Joni Mitchell and friends station, what is great about Pandora is it slips in a lot of other singer songwriters like Ruthann Friedman, Anne Briggs, Judee Sills just to name a few. I just bought a black Lanaki Ukulele(LU21CE) if any one has good info on learning to play one please email me. Again, such are people's reaction to her and her work. It is actually quite similar to many reactions to Joni and her work.< I think it is one of her best & i've loved & have grown up on so many of her early albums ... this newer work is something so amazing & subtle... I keep listening over & over... she is a great story teller ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2007 22:21:45 -0800 From: "Kate Bennett" Subject: sad songs njc I agree- sad sad sad- company (rlj) & February (dw) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2007 22:28:40 -0800 From: "Randy Remote" Subject: Re: If I Could Only Remember My Name From: "Gerald A. Notaro" > Coming out Thursday from Rhino. Hope there is loads of Joni content on the > DVD: > A deluxe two-disc CD/DVD reissue of the Rock Hall of Famer's classic 1971 > solo debut. Includes the previously unreleased "Kids And Dogs" (featuring > Jerry Garcia on guitar), 5.1 mixes, and rare video footage. It actually came out in early November. Rhino did some funny things. Like saying there is video when there is not; only a few photos (and none of Joan). They labled the disc HDCD but buyers have reported that the CD doesn't play as HDCD on the appropriate player. Also, for some odd reason, the engineer (intentionally, I've heard) decided to do the surround mix without a sub (bass) channel, so it's really a 5.0 mix. I don't have the setup for surround, anyway, (maybe they gave Joni her own channel for her vocal cameo on "Laughing"), but the hi rez dvd-audio sounds mighty fine, and the new song is a low-key, rough-hewn delight. This is such a great album-also Croz' "Voyage" box which I have only begun to explore, which has a whole disc of unreleased stuff, and a thick CD sized book-some Joni mention, verifying that they were lovers, sailing around Florida and swapping notes on weird guitar tunings. Also Croz saying that "Guinnevere" was about 3 women, Joni's verse is the last, she "had golden hair"....I thought for sure she drew pentagrams!
