Although this one's pressed on 180 grams of vinyl, that's a poor predictor of quality. I bought a 180 gram version of Ladies of the Canyon but it sounds like it has equal parts vinyl and floor-sweepings. Apparently the ratty 180 grams to avoid are labeled "German pressing" at Acoustic Sounds but I've seen them branded "Simply Vinyl" other places. The US, white-label promo edition of "Ladies Of the Canyon" sounds clearer and has little noise. The upcoming BLUE is more likely a premium pressing 'cause of Hoffman's guidance. At $24.95 it's much more affordable than the bidding wars for promos of BLUE. You hit that nail squarely on its head, Em. I think things ARE twisted like that errant fan belt. Personally, I felt a sense of sadness at the news that Saddam was executed. Don't know why. Certainly, for all the heinous things he did and caused to happen, he deserved his sentence. Maybe I felt sad because his death won't change a damn thing. Life isn't static. Things are changing all the time. People were celebrating in the streets. Many who were afraid fear no longer. Undoubtedly something good will come from all that has transpired. There is always hope. If not, then what's the point of even living. I am not from Iraq and have never been there so I can not only observe from afar but if I was one of the people who's families have been killed and tortured then I think I might feel a sense of closure. Maybe there will be less resistance to the new government. Who can say? In any case, I hope things do improve for the people of Iraq. Whether or not this war should have ever begun is irrelevant now. We can't go back in time and change things. We can only hope that things get better in the present and future.
