There are plenty of alternatives to choose from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_one-click_hosters I personally find Fileho very convenient because it does not have any pop-up windows or flicking ad banners and no delayed download. Actually, Night in the City is really in 6/8, a compound meter, meaning you can feel it two ways, as a slow 2 and a fast 6 simultaneously. The verse is a shuffle 2-beat with the underlying 6 count implied. By the chorus it's a full 6/8 strum. 3/4 by contrast is not a compound meter and is truly felt as 1-2-3, 1-2-3. In most pop music a true meter 3/4 is rare and is usually phrased with a backbeat at the downbeat of every other bar, making it a 6 beat phrase. So it feels like 1-2-3-4-5-6 with the accent on the 4th beat. Traditional 3/4 songs are ones like "Sunrise, Sunset" or "Silent Night" and, for some reason, many national anthems. Dave Subject: Re: Joni's new music After just listening to Night in the City, I would conduct in 2 (2/4)...the pace of the song cries out for 2 but in any case it is clearly in duple meter and not triple. I would say the intro is definitely 3/4 time. But as for the rest of the song - I've been wracking my brain out for a long time trying to figure out the time signature. It's just not as simple as common time (like my song books says). I've tentatively come to the conclusion that it might be 6/8 time played really fast. The 6 can be divided by 3 and 2 to get both even and odd feels. The verses feel even and and chorus feels odd. And, 6/8 time can even be considered a waltz. His slow, sad take on "Merry Christmas Baby" sets up Joni's "River". Aretha's spoken word part puts Christ into the collection but the reverb is over the top. Patti Witten brings it back to a human scale in a song about missing the family; it always reminds me of The Holidays. The same piano figure that Roy Bittan uses is repeated in the opening of the next track. The Kinks are too raucous for a Christmas compilation so the retro production values that follow bring it back on course. The Brenda Lee and Bobby Helms tracks share at least one hook so they sound right together. Charles Brown's duet with Bonnie Raitt is on "A Very Special Christmas 2" on MCA 31454-0003-2 (UPC 7-3154-0003-2-1). That disc also holds Aretha Franklin's contribution. Guaraldi's music is on the familiar "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Patti Witten's song is on "Prairie Doll", from CD Baby. The rest are all paid-for downloads. I found Springsteen's only on iTunes and spent considerable effort converting it to something I could burn with the rest of the tracks. Ramsey Lewis capably closes the collection.
