Firstly, thank you all for your words of appreciation and your well wishes when I was sick. While watching ABC News tonight, they reported on Robbie Williams who was fined today for smoking on stage while performing in Brisbane. It seems that state's smoking laws are more widespread than I knew. The state Premier of Queensland, Peter Beattie was interviewed and announced that he will pay Robbie's fine out of his own pocket because Robbie's shows have provided jobs and revenue for the state. He also warned that this is a one off case and that smoking by any other celebrities would not be tolerated. Is this the reason Joni has avoided touring in Australia? I'm not sure if the smoking laws in other states go so far as the stage but Joni can puff her brains out as far as I'm concerned. I also wonder if these laws extend to outdoor venues? Dead and gone forever, her only children. Please remember their names Andy and Steven Rutledge and say a prayer for Rosalie. ***** Oh my God, Mack. Oh my God. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this tragedy since I read your post about four hours ago. A mother's worst and most unimaginable nightmare. My heart and very soul goes out to your Rosalie. When my sons got their driver's licenses, I worried. And when they would go out *together*, to Yankee Stadium or Fenway or wherever, I worried even more. There but for the grace of God.... I have two friends who lost their only two children -- teenagers Sarah and Catherine -- to a drunken driver while they were on vacation in FL, on the 4th of July in the late 80s. I only met them after their tragedy, and I marvel at their serenity and spirituality as they carry on. They told me they played "Let It Be" at the funeral as they wheeled out the caskets. Shudder. I am so so sorry to hear this terrible news. I know you will be there to support your friend. I wish with all my heart that I could do something for Rosalie to make this go away. I'm sorry that all I can do is sit here and feel her pain, which she might be too numb to feel right now. I read once that denial (the 1st stage of grief) is a shock-absorber for the soul -- it protects it until one is able to process something so horrible. Needing to know more about these boys so I can direct my prayers better, I found this: http://www.reporter-news.com/abil/nw_obituaries/article/0,1874,ABIL_7967_5212536,00.html From that I see that the visitation is just starting now at 11 a.m., and that the services are at 2 p.m. My heart, and many other jmdl hearts, are there with you and Rosalie right now. You can be sure of that. With love and compassion I cannot even express, Patti P.
