As far as monster houses and so fourth...while it's not for me...couldn't afford one anyway. I would never want to shame someone who had the means to purchase a monster home. IF you have the means..and want a mansion..go for it. With SOME environmentalists...not all..I find a bit of hypocrisy. For instance...Robert Kennedy Jr. is a big big environmentalist....I have no problem with that until I find out he usually doesn't fly commercial. Many times he flies on a private jet. In an interview several years ago to promote something ..the interviewer asked how he got the studio....at first ..he didn't want to answer..then finally he said ..rather sheepishly... he flew in on a private jet. I don't like eletists saying one thing and doing another. If it is good enough for the peasants ..it is good enough for him/them. (there is an actor who I really admire..Ed Begley Jr. By golly ..he practices what he preaches...he's an enviromentalist...only drives a hybrid..bikes when he can. Even though I disagree with him on many things...he's not a phony) Reminds me of when Rosie O'Donnell was on her rant about gun control....then we find out her bodyguard was packin. I will or else... it's either that... or I'm told I will be spending the month of January and possibly February sleeping in the barn. We do have an effect on the earth even though the earth is much stronger then we are. I don't agree that Al's decree in his book is we are going to bake. Instead, he gives us ways to take better care of the earth, to be better stewards if you will. In my opinion, his presentation is positive and level, not hysterical. It offers solutions. I have introduced the idea of an exhibition to the folks who decide such things (they are very interested but want to see more examples) - it would be Joni's art relating to landscapes, open spaces, etc - (we've exhibited Ansel Adams, Bob Kuhn, Georgia O'Keeffe for instance- that caliber of art). I have shown them my Mendel Gallery book which has (a very few) of those kinds of pieces but I am sure she has many more. The exhibition committee who decides such things as far as exhibitions go, has asked me if there is anywhere online where they can view more of her more landscape paintings. I realize the timing in regard to Green Flag Song may not be the best but this can be something in the future. If anyone has any clues as to how I can show these folks more of her art related to landscapes, please let me know via this list or by private email- kate@katebennett.com- be sure to put the above subject line in the message so I don't delete if I don't recognize the sender. Thanks! (& is that Charlie sexton she's on the mic with?) >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJZMNCQnYRU I have had the audio of this for awhile, but had never seen the video. This was Dylan's encore of "I Shall Be Released", when Van & Joni join him and they're having lots of fun. Also: >>>Does any one here ever wonder if Al Gore is a bit hysterical?<<< Me again: No. Instead, many of us wonder why the environmental issue isn't more of a global priority, and why SOME people continue to deny the clear facts. And finally: >>>Do people here read any opposing views of Al's decree?<<< Me: No, because most of us have enough good sense to know that he speaks the truth, while at the same time realizing how the oppositions viewpoint (that "our planets biological catastrophe's are simply a natural cycle, folks") is both absurd and downright frightening.
