The subject of this post is indeed "Joni Mitchell NJC". Why, you ask, and how come? Is this a Satanic post with some content that's maybe inappropriate for minors? The answer is YES! lol. It's the most diabolic plan you've ever heard about...lol. Well - According to the "subscribe to the JMDL" page on jmdl.com, 25% of the members are using the ONLY-Joni-digest list option and 4% of the members are using the Only-Joni list option. Both methods will not send them any NJC posts. Once a post has an NJC tag - those members don't even know it was written. This post, for example, has an NJC tag - and they know nothing about it. The other 71%, however, do. That's 29% of only-Joni-intellectual stuck-up only-Joni-snobs who think they're living on planet-only-Joni and may God help you if you should ever forget to add the NJC tag to a non-Joni post for they will hunt you to your NJC grave. lol. Who do they think they are, i wonder? What planet are they living on, i wonder? And isn't it time to teach them a lesson? We are 71% memebrs strong but we can't shoot them because it's an NJC act and mainly because no thrusted weapon known to science could ever damage their NJC shield. lol. It seems we can't teach them a lesson after all, right? Wrong! There's one thing we, 71% of good people, can and should do and THEY won't even realize we're doing it! lol. It's genius, monstrous, and simple. Just add the NJC tag to ALL of your Joni-RELATED posts!!! lol! For years and years and to come, untill their very last day, they will desperatley stare at their email inboxes, examine them upside down and inside out and look for a Joni-related post, but since our Joni-related-posts will have an NJC tag - they will be defeated by their OWN shield and never find one. lol. Not a single Joni-related post will ever enter their email inboxes again! lol. They'll be waiting forever while we'd be discussing every Joni issue we wish to discuss via NJC tagged posts and they'll NEVER even understand what happened! lol! Welcome to the new and amazing world of "Joni Mitchell NJC" posts! This is a diabolic plan that will drive them mad. I think we should be kind enough to send them at least SOME Joni-related posts WITHOUT the NJC tag every once in a while - but since we all know who WE are and what THEY are - the ONLY Joni-related posts WITHOUT the NJC tag we may send them should be "New Both Sides Now covers by Dolly Parton" posts. lol! Noone has ever said that anyone doesn't have the right to post here. Secondly, noone has been insulted. However, as you asserted everybody has the right to post here and by the same token, everyone else can respond to said post in anyway they wish. They don't have to agree and as long as noone is being directly attacked (which noone has been) its pretty much open ground for any comments anyone wishes to make. 1. deplorable - bad; unfortunate; "my finances were in a deplorable state"; "a lamentable decision"; "her clothes were in sad shape"; "a sorry state of affairs" distressing, lamentable, pitiful, sad, sorry bad - having undesirable or negative qualities; "a bad report card"; "his sloppy appearance made a bad impression" Above is a definition of deplorable which is the closest I could find to the use I intended. As you can see, it says- bad, ex, "his sloppy appearance made a bad impression". I'm sorry Mack but that is not an insult, but an observation and an observation I have the right to make. I don't see at all how that is disavowing someone's opinion. I also specifically did not mention anyone directly which is another way to make a general observation without targeting anyone directly. The way things should not be done is you should not email someone personally off list, and threaten to continue emailing them(after they have asked you twice to stop) if they don't stop posting "stupid" emails on the jonilist. I will not name the person who did this but to emphasize my point, I just say that people who carry on behavior like that will end up getting banned from the jmdl. No further comment on that matter. And Mack, I don't happen to like long lengthy posts that go on for days about politics. That is my right Mack and we've already agreed that everyone on this forum has the right to their opinion. Does that mean I'm not ever allowed to make any single comment about anything remotely concerning politics? No. I was also feeling sympathy for someone who lives over in England or Europe who gets tired of hearing about US politics week after week. Sure, posts can be deleted but its still tiresome to weed through it all and I can see where he's coming from. And I almost forgot, you made a remark about the use of "in my opinion". I believe I said something like, I think when people say that when they don't really mean it and use it as an excuse to make extreme statements. However Mack, this was not one of those cases and it is truly my opinion that bad grammar and spelling reflects poorly on the writer. I'm glad I was able to clarify that for you. So we're saying Rosie looks like a fat man? So, men after re-hab look like fat butch dykes? or just like Rosie? Sorry, I just feel like its always open season on Rosie O'Donnell, and I don't see why it has to be that way. She is human, after all, and she loves Joni! She may be on this list for all we know! Thinking maybe it would hurt her feelings to think people think she looks like men who have just been through rehab (the wringer) and are not looking their best (perhaps). She's a character for sure, but I, personally, don't see anything "ugly" about her. The tabloids can get shots of ANYONE with their face in a wierd position, looking really, really bad. Back in the 80's when she was VJ-ing on MTV, I thought she looked rather hot, in her tux and top hat. In fact, I thought she ROCKED! She was razor sharp and funny; she had attitude - and that was refreshing to me. And on many levels I STILL think she rocks. She rides motorcycles. She uses Macs. She has managed to adopt kids without the immediate presence of a penis. I'd party with Rosie ANYDAY! she looks like a friend of mine. I know this is a harangue, but I couldn't keep it in. I thought of running out to the mailbox like Fred Flintstone (another Rosie and Em lookalike) and sticking my head in, to yell into that void which is the mailbox. But then I thought nah, just say what you want to say. So this is what would have been yelled into the mailbox were I possesed of a bit more restraint. Apparently, not only are they dumb, but they're getting dumber. Those statistics that cite the wealth disparity are also supported by another statistical likelihood: fewer educated people. Those uneducated (or under-educated) Republicans aren't even aware enough to see that by voting for Republicans they are voting against their own economic self-interest. That, and the fact that, by having less education, they are far more likely to fail to have the requisite knowledge to assess in great detail the differences of each party's platforms. How I roll my eyes here in NH and VT when I see those poor fools with their bumperstickers that read "Sportsmen for Bush", as if guns and snowmobiles were the only issues that mattered. Obviously these people aren't educated enough to deserve to vote. Of course, one-issue myopia is not the sole province of only the right. "I'm Pro-Choice and I Vote" stickers come to mind, but at least that's an issue of greater importance than keeping Yellowstone open for snowmobilers. >Indeed, if anything the Democrats' base seems to be among the wealthy. And those of us that have been around a while (and that's most of us active folks) have a hard time generating much interest in hashing out old JM discussions. It's all been said. I'm sure there are lots of newbies and relative newbies that could probably crank out some good JC if they gave it a shot. That would be true. And if you haven't done so already, maybe you want to delete the ones that have been up for a month or so. I've enjoyed hearing your Joni covers. I read an interesting article today in the latest Rolling Stone about how new artists are using videos again to promote themselves, like in the early 80's days of MTV but instead of high-budget videos for TV they're making videos for YouTube and other internet video outlets. Has anyone seen the OK Go video where they use the treadmills in their choreography? Brilliant. My comment was that in general (encompassing the president and any or everybody) both are pretty deplorable and neither is anything I would brag about. I was also directly answering the question that was asked by Andeemac, and by so, by my very answer, was commenting on the content. No one was attacked or jumped on. I don't see where anyone was personally attacked. In general, people are way too easily offended these days. It is my opinion, and the opinion of many others, educated or otherwise, that poor grammar,etc.. reflects poorly on the person writing, or speaking whether he is the President of the United States, a rock star, a teacher, or someone on a discussion list. On the other hand, I agree with Em as well...I love breaking rules whether in writing or music. Tom Robbins rocks! However, there is a difference between writing with intent and a sense of style as opposed to just being sloppy and not paying attention. Also, you can probably get away with a lot more if you are Tom Robbins but that's another whole issue... I assume Joni's videos will be included in this deal: NEW YORK (Reuters) - Music videos from Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sean Paul will be legally available for the first time on YouTube, the online video sharing site, which signed its first commercial partnership with Warner Music Group Corp. on Monday. YouTube, which has over 100 million videos viewed everyday, and Warner Music, the fourth biggest record company, said on Monday the pact would help Warner distribute music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, artist interviews and original programming. The companies said YouTube users would also be able to incorporate music from Warner's catalog into the videos they create and upload. Music videos belonging to Warner Music and other record companies are regularly uploaded to YouTube by its users but usually without permission from the labels. The partnership, which has been in discussions for months, was signed late on Sunday afternoon. It comes just days after Universal Music Group, which is owned by Vivendi, described YouTube and News Corp.'s social networking site MySpace of being "copyright infringers" that owe the music industry "tens of millions of dollars." The strong language has prompted speculation that a lawsuit is imminent from Universal or some other owner of copyrighted material. "We've been in discussions with many of the labels, television networks and movies studios," Chad Hurley, YouTube chief executive and co-founder, told Reuters. YouTube and Warner Music said the deal would enable both parties to generate and share revenue created by advertising, which will be featured around the videos. Warner Music executive Alex Zubillaga said the deal will start to generate significant revenue for Warner from next year as user volumes grow. "We're trying to lead through innovation as opposed to litigation," he said. YouTube said it would use a new advanced content identification and royalty reporting system, set for release by the end of the year, to identify the music videos and help manage payment to the record labels. Hurley said the proprietary tools YouTube is building will allow Warner Music to manage the licensing of its music and videos remotely. YouTube said it and Warner Music would share revenue from advertising on both music videos uploaded by the artist and user uploaded videos that incorporate audio and audiovisual works from Warner's catalog. - --------------------------------- How low will we go?
